Looking for info from ZX10R owners.

Just wondering if anyone in the know or owners of the 04, 05 ZX10R could share a bit of info with me...

I am wanting to know what things you like and dislike about them and are there any known common problems with these models?

    Thanks

Earlier ones slap like a bitch and are on the brink of loosing control and are a handful on the road according to all the press I have read, but on that note alot have said they prefer the maniac style of the 04 compared to the new one.

Kinda opposite to the sedate nice handling of your bike.

Past cbr1rr owner has just upgraded to the 06 in black and another very rapid r1 rider has got an 06 as well, and these two people ride the wheels off there bikes

i know someone who is not on the site, had an 04 ZX10 and did everything to it to get more power and better handling, spent a small fortune on it, the ZX10 06 came out, he rode it and bought it. Even after all he had done to his 04, the 06 was faster, more powerfull and handled better. Plus the 06 looks really hot. I saw TL Rider's new baby last night. He wouldn't give me the keys, can't think why, maybe its cos i'm not in the Torque club.........

    I rode a 05 zx10r...test rode it that is before I got my gsxr750...
I loved it...it turned so fast ,presise.power is jaw dropping...its small...it felt smaller than the gsxr I have now and just as lite...in fact the zx10r would be a cats whisker away from the gixxer in handling...now one thing about the zx10r is the suspension is really heavily sprung and damped...so it suits really reall fast riding or heavyer riders well [85kg+] ... the main two reasons why I didn't buy it [as it was $500 more than the gixxer] was...WTF do u do with a 168kmph first gear! and I didn't know if I could trust my self with that amount of power as I've only been back riding road bikes for a year and a half after 8 years of not riding them...why not look at a gixxer 750? they as cheap as chips...aand bloody easy to ride fast [and with a tooth down on the front sproket almost as quick as a cbrthou]

Thanks for that Poo's, some very good points there. Yes the Gixx750 is still a possibility too.

Okay i brother in law as a zx10r. And they are a very very common bike among the fast boys around this area.

The power is very raw, but this is a good thing, and handling is nice, but seams twicity(i am use to suzukis with steering dampers), brakes didn't have the same inital bite as my 600's from same speeds, but once biting felt the same.

Alot of the 04-05 owners are upgrading to the 06, so you be able to pick them up for a song, biggest reason they are upgrading is the 06 is a far easier bike to ride fast than the 04-05, this is due to suzuki soften the bike up a bit, due to it got alot of.

But if ya get one for a good price easy enough get a steering damper and you be away laughing.

Thanks Cajun, yeah I found the 05 quite flighty when I took one for a spin. A steering damper would be on the cards if I get one.

Well my 2 cents, no one has let me ride one, but if i didn't have the GSXR in my garage it'd be a ZX10R instead no question, think there was some issues with the front wheel, but that got sorted, prolly not as refined a bike as the R1 n co, but got the angry streak and thats what it's all about, maybe even more so than the GSXR............

yeah, the front wheel reportedly exploded at speed.. they recalled a batch of early '04 ZX10s and fixed those..

Well if you're gonna recall a bike for a problem, then that is a fairly good reason
