    Funny shaking

    Hey guys.
I went for a ride today (my first one in ages, it was great)and found that the front wheel sort of vibrates/shakes when I get up to 1VII0 k's and onwards. The road was smooth so I know it wasn't that.

Do motorcycle wheels/tyres go out of balance like cars ones do and if so where do I get the wheel balanced.
    Cheers,

Imagine they can, not that I've noticed the little weights to balance it all out on a bike rim.

And your avatar is my wallpaper at the mo' spada. Crazy.

Yeah check no balance weights are missing. You'll probably see a mark on the rim where it was. Also not something simple like low tyre pressure?

    Long time no see!!

Yes. Back tyre can effect the feel of the front too, so get both checked.

Less likely, wheel bearings, front or back.

    Unlikely, but swingarm bearings.

110ks.. Ha Ha, knowing you that would be more like 210. On the back tyre.

You are in ChCh now are you not? I found the people at Pitlane to be good, if a little busy.

Warped disc is a possibility, whatever it is get it checked out because it could well be dangerous, better to spend a few dollars than lose control. If the bike`s been laid up might be the brakes binding slightly as well, faster you go the hotter they`ll get, needs checking out a.s.a.p. mate.

The other thing worth checking is the headstock bearings and their adjustment. Play in that area can cause some strange effects
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Strange wear pattern on the tread and tyre pressure would be the main things I would look for first. Thats what went wrong with the CBR when I first gotr her

I had a problem like that with my old GSXR, Turned out one of the steel belts had let go in the front tyre and it had a slight wobble in it, Must have run over something , Funny thing was it was fine until around 140k's, then all hell broke loose, Instantly.

I had a tyre go hard on me (Compound went strange) and that caused vibrations . Do you ride the bike infrequently or really hard?
Also yeah they do do out of ballance but the front is more noticable than the back.

Good to hear the bikes treating you well. I Know exactly what you mean about the feeling you get when the mighty SPADA fires into life.
