    And the winner is!

Enigma - for the dss stoppie shot.

I also would like to run the pic of the Busa lined up against the GN250 on the start grid - all I got to offer is a photo credit.

Enigma and TL rider would you email me the relevant pics asap to

    mail@davidcohen.co.nz

please. Enigma I'll need your post details for the mags too.

here is the report i'll be sending in along with some of my pics.

    ----------------------------

    The Right Way to Stunt.

The power and weight of the latest generation of hyperbikes, being ridden by the generation that invented BMX, has seen the type of trick riding we were in awe of in ‘Mad Max’ and other bike movies become part of the repertoire of a moderately skilled rider on a late model Gixxer of R1.

And some people don’t like it. The chaps with the blue and red lights seem to think that keeping both wheels in contact with the ground will reduce the incidence of broken femurs, tibias and collarbones, the scars of which most stunters wear as badges of honour.

What to do? We’ve now got a growing bunch of skilled riders on bikes that are very easy to do tricks on - and nowhere legal to do it.

KR knows that many a deserted industrial area, car park or ‘back of the Airport’ sees plenty of one wheeled action – but it’s not the ideal place if something ‘does’ go wrong.

When the crew from kiwibiker.co.nz came up with an answer - KR was happy to get behind it.

They fronted up and hired Meremere Dragway and invited all riders and stunters to come along and show their stuff - on the strip – where it belongs – Ambulance present, safety standards equipment, legal, encouraged.

It turned into a successful day’s wheelie-ing, stoppie-ing, and old fashioned drag racing.

Tuition was available and the team behind the ‘Chics Dig Scars’ stunt DVD were on hand to put on a show and give away a few copies. Some pretty neat skills were on display from all who attended.

KR commends Sue, Jimmy and the ‘Scared Sheep Squadron’ for showing the right way to enjoy motor sports.

KR made 2 prizes of a year’s subscription available and had ‘Big’ Dave put on his art director’s hat to judge.

Best Stunt on the day went to Sam Barling who did several passes of the full track on one wheel – carrying a passenger.

Best Photograph of the day went to ‘Enigma’ for his stunning ‘stoppie’ shot.

    Enjoy your magazines guys.

If you have a similar worthwhile volunteer event coming up - we’d like to hear about it – send us a shout at editor@kiwirider.co.nz - we welcome event reports and your pictures too.

And don’t forget to put your notices in Bikemart too.
