Yeah, thats part of motorcycling isn't it? they can look right at you, they see but don't register. Tell you what, 2 .50 calibre machineguns on the front putting holes in their paintwork, they'd notice pretty damn quick!

    nope but close

Used to ride on low beam, not any more...

Going to work along in the bus lane on Gt North at Pt Chev, woman in toymota pulls straight out in front of me from a side street Give Way. She sees me, and stops half way across my lane right in front of me.

Well by this stage I was in deep shite and looking at the front quarter of her car. Don't really know what happened next, but I'd hit the brakes, started to swerve and lifted my left leg out straight in front. I planted my left boot on the front guard and somehow pushed my bike sideways in front of her car (GS1000 weighs a shit load!). My bike didn't touch her car, I just saved binning it, and I didn't break my leg. This was all reaction, there was no thinking going on, other than "oh shit".

Her front guard was pushed in quite a lot and the indicator and headlight were both smashed.

I stopped about 20 meters up the road, hopped off the bike and just started shaking. It was about 10 seconds later when the adrenaline brought out Mr Grumpy!#^%$#&*

She was out of her car by this stage and when I walked over to her, she said "I didn't see you". My response was "you obviously didn't F%^*)*&ing look then did you". She wasn't too thick, as she didn't argue.

We swapped names and addresses and that was that.

Since then I always ride on full beam. My current bike SV1000 has twin super bright bulbs and I get flashed all of the time.

Good too, if they are flashing they can obviously see me.

Good call. I still think the machine gun idea has merit though... And you must have legs of steel!!

    not just the legs

The legs of steel developed to hold up other things.

I ride with lights and I'm quick on my super loud horn. I've had a few pull out but luckily I've been able to avoid so far. Cagers need some education I recond!

    on in town.

Every other vehicle on the road is out to kill you. I don't ever trust any of them.
Lights on in town ,off on the highway and flash at anything in front to let them know I'm there.
Even then they don't or wont see you sometimes.

Riding towards the airport yesterday I had 2 cars pull out in front of me, the first guy was a jaguar who had a complex about me passing him cause I didn't really have time to stop and decided to sit on my arse till the next set of lights until I got off the bike and offered to rearrange his car with my bike and get his insurance to buy me a new one.

Then there was women who was too busy chatting on her cell before reversing out of her driveway right in front of me. Then she got the fright of her life when I was next to her and even OVER the sound of my bike I could her music while she was on the phone She damn near shat herself when I banged on the roof and flipped her off.

To all of the preservationists on here I did what I knew was right at the time, if I didn't, then next time they may pull out in front of a noob who has no where to go. The way you word the threats as well made sure that they won't take any frustrations out on other bikers.

    Arrow On

allways, the newer bikes dont allow the headlight to be turned off...
