    grim bike set-up

watch out -a bit of a sad happy rant...grr

when i got my bike from red barron i had the worst run of beginners luck i thought- two flat front tyres, both on the SH22 and both at 100kph. then when i finally went back ( having towed the bikes from where i'd had to abandon them...) to red barron the guy noticed that they'd fitted too big an innertube in the tyre and it had been nipping. so months pass as i get over the wierd feeling in my tummy that every rabbid sensation in the steering is the start of yet another flattie... and every time it rains the bike has horredous random fishtails- one of which nearly put me under a truck a dead straight stretch of road near thames- i'm watching other riders thinking they look ok-not greasing all over the road like me, it could be my tires or that i ate too many pies...

so yesterday i get the guilts about letting my chain get so slack and make my way to MDU's to get help to tighten it and as we're fiddling round down there- he shows me how to check the straightness of the back wheel- and i go-but it's crooked dude! he goes-mmm not by that much..but lets straighten it. he packs me off up the road to test it all and MY LANTA it feels like the bike is on TRAIN TRACKS.

I just got back from pauanui and was swamped in the hills by a 45 min rain bomb- BUT THE BIKE WAS LIKE NEW - it's so hard to describe the difference.this has made the single biggest difference to the bike! many thanks to MDU-

but i feel in a bad mood with red baron because the bike was seriously mutant and dangerous to ride in the rain the way it was before (but may-be its not their job to check things like that...dunno...)... but now w st. wheels- i'm so happy

I took my bike to Red Baron for its first 1000km service, only because they were the "only" Hyosung Dealer I could find that would service the bike before Saturday.

It got its service, however I am not convinced that their efforts were worth the money paid. Despite that, the warranty remained intact and that is all I was worried about.

One of the strangest things they did was move my clutch leaver. I had it positoned perfectly for me, yet they took it upon themselves to move it.

I think it is best to do all your own servicing unless you are tied in by a warranty. You can't really trust anybody these days.

Without wanting to express any opinion on Red Baron at all....I recommend a search of these forums.

Oh I fuckn' hate it when a bike shop does that. I think I've figured out why it happens to. They have these kids who have just dropped out of school working in there, and the little turds haven't finished growing yet. So they can't use the clutch properly, so they back it off and spin it around a bit to make it easier to pull in.

    Or they just dropped it.

Write to the manager surfchick. Ask him what he's intends to do about about it.

    Cool

Shite Dr Surfchick... thats not not to hear that your back wheel wasnt set correctly...

Yep do as Lou says... either write to the manager or go and see the manager in person. You havent touched the back wheel since you purchased it.. so they sold it to you out of allignment. Which is not good at all.

Good to see you had a great ride after it was all sorted out...

Good on MDU for fixing it for you... he aint a bad sort of guy really... in fact he is one of the good ones..

i know- i thought i was cursed & in the dry i'd just sort of adapted to the way it fell into corners on the left... when you first start out you never think it might be the bike as you're doing so many odd things in technique... but i tell you the bike feels like it is set on tracks now. TRACKS i tell you.

i hadn't thought of doing anything about it... just won't be buying next from there... i do think they should set the bikes up properly for new riders... grrrr

Bad news... The standard of work at RB and the general level of service at RB is crap. I won't go near them. All they are interested in is getting money out of you. I'd say go to Colemans or Mt Eden in future.

    wow.. .thats pretty bad ay.....
something like that is dangerous and could have resulted worse off.....
awesome of MDU to help out... I must admit.. having Rayza and Tristank help me out with the technical stuff like that is awesome.. KB is good for people helping people.... especially when you might not be as mechanically minded like me.
Glad it is all good in the long run for ya chick!
