Well it was good enough for one of the Honda riders (Spencer,Swartze?) to storm back to Honda and say ''If you want to win on the Mile you need one of these!'' Rumour has it an XR750 found it's way to the back room, and the RS750 was born....via the XLV750 as means of homogulation.

But how many were sold compared to Norton interstates - I reckon I see more of them and Bonnevilles than CX's.

(And shhhh - I was just winding Bonez up - I think they aren't a bad old truck actually) ugly as - but really were the 'changover' model for liquid cooling.

I guess old Triumphs can't wear out if they're in the garage being fixed all the time...

Wind me up? Nevvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvver. They're fuckugly alright, but it's a done deal. I'm getting the 200,000ker. Get back to me when the Beulls done that milage .

Spot on Dave with your first comment.

Question - For how many years where Bonnivilles produced compared to the 4 odd years production run of the CX500s? Considering it wasn't a model that every man and his dog purchased you'd expect more old brit shitters (p/t) on the road , wouldn't you?

You may get the pleasure of having a ride on one on our next toodle together Gary. Hope it doesn't piss down this time though .

Fired the thing up today in a workshop and was surprised how quiet the engine was considering the milage. Looks tatty but has been regulaly maintained. Has Koni shocks fitted, new fork seals, battery, oil and filters. No weaping at the back of the engine or apparent oil leaks anywhere. Comes with a few spares as well. It was bought as a spares bike but ended up being the current owners daily runner. Had a side car attached to it for sometime so am on the look out for a lh peg and centre stand for the beast.
