Are you still using the h-pipe or just straight through each side? You may just need to rejet to get the top end back.

Done a few thousand ks on the old girl now. It's running like a top. Completed the Coast to Coast run and the tyres faired well in the wet conditions. Way better than I expected. I am enjoying riding the old heap of crap. It seems to turn heads believe it or not. Fright no dought. Hell even kids in a school bus gave me the thumbs up the other day. The worlds greatest critics can't be wrong.

Sussed out out how to start it first pop from cold-half choke and no throttle.
Seems to be getting 250kms before I switch to reserve (13 odd litres on the main). Certainly more economical than my mates 500 Pantah. Aquired a CBX550 fairing that I may graft on. I do plan to quieten her down a bit more though. By cutting off the existing "muffler", welding a suitable piece of pipe and fitting a chrome reverse cone muffler. Should suit the bike. Not into the "can" setups. Look like drain pipes they do...............

Keep a container of cheap engine oil in the shed for the 500km top up.
Doesn't seem to be leaking fuel from the lh carb overflow like it was. Mind you having a fuel filter and putting it on the main stand probably helps. May remove the side stand as I tend to forget about it quite often lately. Thank goodness for the rubber tang fitted to it though.

    Bye for now.

Shit I hate trademe. Just picked up a complete rear wheel(good dive assy)/tyre (95% tread) combo locally for $50. 50 goes into 9,500 how many times?

Edit- Figured it out. Had to take my boots off to do it though..............

Found out were another one is. It's been sitting in the shed since '96. Mostly all there. Apparently its got gear selection problem. Managed to get the motor turning over by putting it in 3rd gear and rotating the back wheel. Mentioned to the owner what I was willing to pay for it as a parts bike, gave him my contact details and left it at that.

Did you hear back from that guy Bonez?

Anyone got a spare pack rack or know of one that I could get my hands on?? You can only stuff so much gear down your shirt and wearing any sort of pack on your back is not the go! Will post a WTB as well.

Finally got the old girl legalised last month and have been clocking up a few miles. Took her to Christchurch last Monday for a decent run and wouldn't you know it, it was probably the hottest day of the summer (30+ degrees)and I had to wait for the weather to cool off before heading back home cause I had nowhere to stash my excess clothing!! Even though I cooked on the way down, the bike ran well.

I'm considering buying an old CX this week. It's a CX400 Euro, for $1800. That's kinda expensive for such an old thing, but it sure is cool! And only 33000k on it.

Ahhh thats not so bad, if its tidy enuff then go for it.
If you find the prolink squeaks a bit then jack the rear up and pull the 12mm bolts out that are the pivit points and grease em up.

No. Will probably wait till winter sets in and send off an e-mail. No hurry. A medium sized roll bag could be the go, with the rear seat being so well proportioned, to carry luggage. Do it all the time if I'm carting a decent amount of gear. Keeps the load lower than a packrack and over or fwd of the rear axle. Keeps the bike norrower than saddle bags/panniers too when lane splitting.

    Tank bags a good too.
