How about this little beuty- http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=90207079
Yep, that's me who's bidding on it. I am tempted to press the buy-now but I like the idea of the Euro better as it only has 33,000 rather than 57,000 kms on it.
I like the look of this GL better however. The Euro is a bit... white.
Is a CX400 / GL400 just a sleeved-down 500 engine, or is it an actual whole smaller engine?

Yes, I am obsessed.

Porky had developed a bit of a clonking noise from the rear. Turns out the drive gear which is bolted onto the wheel is stuffed. Teeth worn to about a third of its original size. I after 200,000 plus odd ks this is to be expected. I've thrown the spare wheel on, which had a better drive fitting and the noise has disappeared. Did about 70-80kms of gravel road riding to see if all is oakly doakly. Yip all sweet.
If anyone has a spare one of these drives in good nick I wouldn't mind grabbing it. It has a 7 on the casting. Can't have too many spares.
I just picked up my new 1985 CX400 Euro, mein got in himmel the white plastic is ugly, but it goes like a dream!
The only thing that needs attention is a spongy front brake.
I just finished riding from Christchurch to Blenheim, very tired now.
Sleep tonight, tomorrow do a day trip to Nelson to see what the Whangamoa hill corners are like, and then back to Wellytown on Monday.

wooo, thats certainley differant

I found this on Trademe...
Didn't know it even existed.
"1983 Honda GL700, very rare Wing Interstate Limited Edition model. Awesome runner, in very good condition. Low k's for age."
This is what a quick net search says about the 700...
In Australia, the GL700 Wing Interstate model was a production run of about 800 bikes that were made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market during 1983/4. They were meant to satisfy the desire of Japanese motorcyclists to own the GL1100 and GL1200 Goldwings (they weren't allowed to due to a 750cc restriction which has subsequently been removed); and the motor in the GL700 is the same 673cc motor used in all the CX650 models - I guess that in the 'more is better' stakes, 700 is obviously much closer to the 750 limit than 650.

Also knowen as a 'silver wing' This bike being ment for the Jap and yank markets differs slightly from the GL series bikes, with slightly different body work and the name.
The CX engine was used as the engine in the smaller GL bikes as they were like a mini GL1000 Goldwing... starting with:
GL 400 Wing (transverse V2 LC)
GL 650 silver wing (transverse V2 LC)
GL 1000 gold wing (transverse oposed flat 4 LC)
cheers DD
(Definately Dodgy)
GL650 Silverwing Interstates(aka GL700) had all the kit and kaboodle - http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Honda_GL650I
Whereas the standard Silverwing was, well, standard- http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Honda_GL650
