It's the form over function thing.
Part of the reason the Buells handle so well is 'mass centralisation' - eric even demonstrates its effect by holding a muffler at extended arms length and swinging it from side to side and noting how much effort is involved in changing it's direction.
He then hugs it against his chest and rotates his torso and there is significantly less effort to cahnge direction.
I now look at all that plumbing perched so high and aft and think how much better thay would be 'in the middle'. It's the worst place to hang a few kilograms short of the handlebars.
Even the new gixxers have started - the can is mostly underslung now with a little 'spout' out the side.
Conversely - they do sound bloody good exiting so high on the CB900 hornet.
Can't you just put a bracket down between the cans? There are plenty of bikes (particularly Italian ones) that have a spindly bracket going down to a numberplate holder lower down.Originally Posted by skelstar

Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
Yeah I have done that...not as cool as having the plate nice and high. Gives a good view of the big fat tyre at the back. Asthetic reasons of course.Originally Posted by vifferman

All that plumbing weighs in at 50% of the stock can (which is bronze in colour, oval and sounds bloody nice - but you could use it to weight bodies and they'd never resurface) and is just above the centre of mass line, but quite a long way up from the centre of rotation. The stock can is also just below the centre of mass line and bisects the centre of rotation but is offset from the centreline of the bike.Originally Posted by Big Dave
Given the lack of mass and how much closer to the centrline the Laser system is,I would think it would still be a net reduction in rotational inertia.

Call it whatever you want, so long as THIS particular senile bearded biker gets the money.Originally Posted by cowpoos

That is one damn nice looking bike!

Sorry mate. I'm just jealous. I thought you might go for the R6/GSXR600 look Jim. Nice short pipe would look pretty cool on the Z750, and get away from all this under the seat nonsense.Originally Posted by skelstar
Sorry to rain on your parade Jim but don't you think the way the link pipes are routed spoils the whole thing? In my opinion it might look nice from the back, but fugly from the side. My advice to you is: get over it and get a Hornet!![]()
pretentious moi?
Frankly I prefer the stock pipe.
I'll give you $50 for yours, as you know I'll need a spare one day...
:-)
Cheers,
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
Tis a gorgeous bike. When I was looking for a new bike 6 months ago I seriously wanted a Z750s, unfortunately a bit out of my price range at the time. Had to settle for the SV650s instead. Maybe next time though!
I ummm thought it was a standard pipe doh.:slap:
This is the exhaust I would have if I could find it. Maybe nice on the Z750S?
Looks like an MV F4I fucked a Z thou if you ask me Jim. But if that's what floats your boat, go right ahead.
