Thread: New MX track in Onehunga

  1. #16
Wow,an MX track in the heart of Auckland, that's bloody impressive.Looking at those woops I can feel my chest aching and my arms pumping up -
I wonder if I'm allowd to ride around sitting down, that's my pace these days,sigh....

If you are getting bored on a short track you aren't trying hard enough - how can you get bored if you are shitting your pants every corner and ever jump...

Cary I need to have a go on your YZF250 to see if my ankle is up to MX again. I'm sure it would be ok. Then I might have to buy another MX'er.

Some of us prefer longer rides than just going round in circles. Good practice for the jumps I'll happily admit tho!

Hahaha I agree with that post matey!!!!
I might go up for a look this weekend looks like fun! need to get some air time as I don't usually try to jump the 230.

What a good thread, those roundy roundy no bumpy riders just dont know what they are missing. Imagine going around in circles with out the front wheel trying to trick you or accelarating hard up the face of a mountain KNOWING there is a chazim the otherside and STILL holding the throttle WIDE open

you can not compare Ardmore to Harrisville, Harrisville is way better, Club owned and operated, Watered every practise that it needs to be, groomed every week, all money raised goes straight back into the track,
Harrisville is a step above any other track in auckland (and NZ for that matter) Sure it suits the better riders more with the jumps and layout, ill accept that,

best thisng is thier actually is 3 tracks in south auckland

I personally prefer Ardmore. the track is always nicely groomed and prepared and the track is always DIFFRENT. he changes the layout every week or so which is great because it makes it fun and challenging, which I like riding personally.

Ok I rang the guys that run the track and it's $20 per visit and if you want to buy a key, it's $500 adn something adn two people can own a key.

They look like they are trying to run it professionally. Could be a good thing.

Oh and it's open this weekend!

Who was comparing?? I found both the tracks great. Now if only they could sort out the huntly track so it can be opened more than 12 times a year or so then that would be even better. That track in huntly looks fantastic.

Ardmore is exactly the same setup as Harrisville in terms of how often the track is groomed and watered, sure the jump layouts are diffrent but the basics are te same mate. Ardmore is a top class MX track as is Harrisville.

Does anyone want to volounteer some information on how to approach these tracks. Are there particular days you can go or is it like the woodhill bike park. Anytime as long as the forestry gates are open.

Ardmore is open wednesdays for practise and sundays, they have a raceline phone number which cary will have to post up as I've forgotten it. Harrisville is open 1pm to 3pm saturdays for practise and sundays for racing. See first pic on first post of this thread for onehunga.
