Hey Toast, you could take it in to AMPS and get them to sort it out on the dyno. They will be able to get it sorted pretty quickly. Probably cost ya a couple hundy.

They sell install and dyno tune bikes with aftermarket pipes and PC's.

Really depends on where you are i guess,
    AMPS - AKL
    GP Trading - TGA
Ray Clee - Wherever he is
    WMC - Wellington

Dyno should cost you $200-$300 i guess, takes a few runs to figure out the best map to use with your bike, you will notice a hell of a difference in the bikes power, and more likley than not get better fuel milage.

THe basic maps are fine from the website they are just a guide tho, since very bike is different really.

Nothing to do with this thread/subject....but I thought I should point out that Cowpoos was useful here AND didn't diss the Honda.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I was actually quite disappointed that he didn't give me the 'you're gonna need more than a custom map to learn me, sonny' treatment...it just doesn't feel the same

WINJA also didn't shit on the Fireblade...must be Easter cheer, such a pious soul he is.

If AMPS is decent I might go to them, then. They're about 10 mins from my place, and open on weekend mornings, which I doubt Ray Clee is. Ray's in the whops too.

Actually it's not as fast as a K1 or later 750 I don't reckon. Goes ok up to 240 but I think from then on it's really missing the ram air...struggles a bit. Won't be a bad bike once the forks are sorted.
Nothing wrong with 929 Blades, must be the rider. My old one had a Micron and ran shit hot at any revs.
Since you seem to hate your choice of bike so much and slag it off, do the bike a favour and buy something else.

Did I say I hate it? You may have noted the CAPS in the description of the bike, imitating how WINJA normally describes the 'Blade family. It wasn't exactly subtle.

They are a really goodbike, especially on the road, but they're not really powerful, the 0.7kg/mm springs up front are way too soft to be used hard by someone heavy, and many a magazine has found a Gixxer 750 to be a quicker bike.

Your 929 probably ran well at all revs because it only had the end can, and still had the exhaust valve in there doing its thing at lower revs.

All make sense to you now?

funny thing about the first blade , when you put just an end can on some of them it would run real shitty, one fix was to pull the end can apart and ding the perf tube slightly with a ball peen hammer at the inlet then go 180 deg round the tube and put another ding at the other end , that slight restriction was enough back preasure to clear it up , i think 2 brothers even bought a can out like that

Doesn't that kinda kill the purpose of putting a can that allows more air to flow in the first place? Or is the air flow and the back pressure not directly related?

WITH A COUPLE OF SMALL DINGS IT WOULD STILL FLOW MORE, THEY ARE RELATED MORE BACK PREASURE LESS FLOW. BUT THERES MORE TO EXHAUSTS THAN YOUD THINK , IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH CAM OVERLAP AS MUCH AS FUELING , MOTU WOULD KNOW

Ok Sarcasm doesn't come across when reading it. Agreed, they are are good bike. From memory mine had the valve thingy closed over (sort of welded shut) on the connecting pipe an inch or so before it fed into the Micron muffler. Whatever, the bike ran bloody well and pulled hard way passed 260kph mark. I didn't have any issues with the forks?
A KBer owns mine now down south and he's happy as with it.
I've just fitted a Micron to the 636 a few days ago and the kit came with instructions and bits and pieces to take care of the exhaust valve - a clever gadget to fool the sytem management/ignition check so the FI warning light wont stay on or register a fault. Sounds sweet and I weighed the original muffler 5.9kg and the Micron ... 1.9kg

That's pretty interesing that the valve was closed over and it still ran well.

I had the bike to 265 idicated with the stock kit...so will be interested to see what it will do under the same conditions with the new stuff.

Micron is classy kit...woulda liked summat, but just got this at a good price.

Are you quite light? I'm 85kg, and have had the forks bottom out under braking in the wet...not nice. To be honest being smoother coming in to them would help...but I've decided that I will change the spring to suit me instead of changing me to suit the bike.
