Good Riding Routes - Around Wellington

Hey, just thinking if might be a good idea to have a sticky listing some primo riding routes with some information on each. There's obviously a wealth of knowledge here, and if it's all in 1 place, then it's easy for people to look up and pick one to go off on a hoon.

If you get in first, you can even name the route! Waddaya think? Good idea? Already been done?

    Eg:

    Haywards-Paekak Hill

Directions: Start at Avalon Park, head north on SH2, turn left on SH58 (Haywards Hill Rd). Go right at Pauatahanui roundabout onto Paekakariki hill road. Ride out all the way till Paekakariki. Route ends at junction with SH1. Refuel at BP and return via SH1 or turn around and do the run in reverse!

Description: Great fast ride with long flowing bends at the start, then tightens up to smaller roads and exciting corners after Pauatahanui. Remember to slow down in town to avoid pissing off the locals! Spectacular views on the top of Paekak hill, but KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, or slow down! There's a lookout before the descent if you're hoofing it but still want to enjoy the view.

    Distance (1 way): 36km

Riding time (1 way): 20mins - 1/2 hr (I take 15mins in my cage in good traffic. Not sure about with bikes, happy to edit based on comments)

Paekakariki hill now 70kph - still being targetted by 5-0??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

The title of this thread is potentially unfortunate, and possibly too revealing...

There are plenty of good roots around Wellington - it just depends on your preference.

I was trying to be circumspect. There's always one who just wades right on in...
