    Noob Again

Well its been a week since picking up my new ride from Wellington.
Friday morning 7th april i managed to hitch a ride to Wellington to pick up my soon to be bike, with granduer illusions of riding it back to Ngatea after picking it up on Saturday morning.
I arrived at Wellington Train station at 1 am after catching the last train from paraparaumu(Where I was dropped off)
and waited no longer than 5 mins when my brother turned up to take me back to his house.
Most of you will know my brother as Jim2.
Sat Morning aproached rapidly with the excitment building I could hardly wait as Jim2 rode me over to pick up my newly aqquired CBR600F, After some online change of ownership,I mounted my new bike with some trepidation having not ridden in around 12-13 yrs, slipped the clutch and was off........weeee this is fun i tried to tell myself but well as the title says.....nooob factor.
Having been in heavy vehicles for most of my licence holding yrs I suddenly became all too aware of how vulnerable i`d become.
Wow this is scary, so much so that any corner I came up too had all my senses screaming at me ....I`m not gonna make it ,I`m not gonna make it.
Along comes Jim2 for the ride and on our way out the Waionuimata coast road his lessons on cornering and riding are starting to make more sense, a few re runs of corners soon has me gaining a little more confidence.
Pretty much the afternoon gone ,I`m left contemplating the long ride home....which is going to happen on the sunday and after visiting some friends in Trentham I retire for the night.
Sunday morning 7.30 am after being woken an hour earlier I am finally on my way, with Jim2 along for the ride some more lessons in riding ensure and my confidence is starting to make me more comfortable.
On the way we go over the takas and out the back roads via the water tower rd for a Photo of Sam`s corner (R.I.P) even tho I didn`t know him I still reflected on his untimely Death.
After that we rode on to Paihiatua taking the back roads and all the time learning, and also making mistakes too.
Finally we made it up to the (think it was called close to the edge Cafe)at the start of the ashhurst gorge.
This is where I was to be cut loose, and after saying goodbye to Jim2 I carried on up the middle of the Island mainly because of the wheather, That and I knew the roads that way.
Got to Ashhurst and after fueling up went thru to Cheltenham then on to vinegar hill,at this stage the wheather did clear although it was friggan cold.
I finally made it to Waioru where I stopped for half an hour b4 heading off over the dessert rd.
One more Fuel stop at Wairaki and from there onto matamata I stopped for a toilet Break with the final leg to Ngatea taking just over 50 mins.
Time of Arrival 6.45 pm so all in all nearly 12 hours riding.
I`d like to Thank Jim2 for his advice and help in getting this bike. Also I hope you all have a happy easter and ride safe.

Full kudos to RT - he thought he was crap, but the reality is he took to it like a duck to water - which was good 'cos it pissed down on Sunday.

The CBR had brand new Pirellis with foot wide chicken strips when we picked it up. They were down to about 20cm by Saturday night. He should be alright I reckon, so long as he stops using those brake things that slow you down.

    Good on you mate.

You done well to tackle that after so many years of abscence.

Who mentioned the Coro loop. Drool drool. That's gotta be the best for bikers, it's gotta be.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.
