Nudemetalz in Chch (well, close enough..)

Today Nudemetalz and Mrs Nudemetalz rode through Christchurch as part of their South Island tour. On their way through they stopped in at Chertsey (South of Rakaia, around 60km south of Christchurch) to visit me and T.W.R at T.W.R's place for a bit of general banter and some lunch, helped by the dogs. They weren't in for long, but there was time for a couple of photos before they carried on their way

Ha you just wanted to get pics of the shabby backyard

After being alerted by the Nude'z earlier in the day that they were leaving Tekapo, thought about them finding the place so shot through to Geraldine to intercept them. Caught them just lining up for a coffee, so had a chin wag then brought them through the back roads to Ashvagas & home.
Chris reckoned the ZXR is loud enough to cause headaches Ha too bad it works .
Hung around for a bit chatting & checking things over then departed for ChCh, with a certain Blue & silver Kawasaki disturbing the peaceful solitude of Chertsey by lofting the wheel up the main street (city folks mmm )

then the surgery on the NZ to complete the days events doesn't it piss you off when you repair something only to find it has to be ripped apart to fit into a housing then reassembled

Ha ha,...touring bikes CAN STILL do wheelies ya know.....!!!!!!!!

We had a great ride down South. We were very lucky to have good weather and the Airshow was great.

Also have to report that the RJAYS pack performed just perfectly, being able to swallow a lot of gear. Found too that it did not affect the handling too much apart from making the ZX pretty damn heavy when wheeling it around fully loaded with the throwover panniers and tank bag too !!
I should also mention that if you are looking for a magnetic tank bag, look no further than the Oxford one. It is just so practical. We had it is a carry bag on the ferry and at the airshow. Every biker should have one !!!

We did approximately 1800kms and the South Island roads shagged my front tyre out. Found that the road surface is quite coarse further South you go and must be responsible for that.

On the ride itself, the bikes went well, with the Mrs keeping up the 100-130km/h open road limit fine on her VT. I averaged 20km/l on the 1000 and she averaged 28km/l on the 250 !!! Not too bad ay !!

Hey Nudez, that's my home town. The original owner of the butchers was Athol Cattermole. I went to high school with his son Brian. We also played in a band together in our teens.

My parents used to buy their meat there. My mother lives just round the corner from that shop in Cass St (the first street heading North.)

I hope that you both enjoyed WOW 2006. Scorpygirl and I did the 2004 WOW and it was awesome.

Would love to catch up and chew the fat about bikes and aviation sometime.

that front tyre was starting to look pretty munted when you were here, so by the time you got home it must be poked, giving cars the learn through hilly twisties when fully loaded wouldn't have helped mmm

Athol was my Grandad's brother (Great Uncle I guess). I'm a born and bred Cantab meself.

I've been meaning to get a pic there but just never got around to it. Now that Bridget is my wife (nearly one year now) and she's a Cattermole, I couldn't think of a better time to do it .

I've been to most of the WOW's, been doing the Classic Fighters recently and go to the Wings Over Wairarapa also.

Hey nude, good to see the trips going well! I'm impressed how much gear Mrs Nudes bike can take. Have fun.

The VT (essentially same as yours, save the fairing) kept up no worries and through the twisties was giving me a hurry up (as you'd expect).
It was only when overtaking that I had to exercise some throttle control so she could keep up.

Used about 2-300 mls of oil in the whole trip, not bad for a 64000km engine when you consider it sat between 8-12,000 rpm for 1800kms !!!

Damn thats good, I want to get a rack for mine but their had to get! Is Mrs Nude's an 86-88 F? if it is then its definately the same as mine (Sans the front brakes and fairing). If you look at my profile you'll see what I mean. When your back and have time we'll have to hook up and do those chains too.

Already back in Welly, Dude !! Got back Tuesday.

Hers is actually a 1988 VTR-Interceptor which is equivalent to a Jap-Spec VT-250FG. We've converted the rear ugly stalky lights to the Jap-spec integrated units and am about to do the front ones too, hence the big holes in the top of the fairing.
