K4 Gixxer Pipe Mod - Budget

Right, this is going to sound pretty budget and a waste of time, but nothing to lose really and kept me entertained for half an hour or so.

I got a K4 600 a while ago, but can't justify spending up on a pipe yet as I don't quite do enough riding / track days to warrant it's use. I spend more time riding than I spend online (which funnily enough is quite rare for a KB'er) I ride more times per week than there are days, you get the point.

Aaanyway back to the point, those of you familar with the gixxer stock pipes, well they make a nice bike sound like a sewing machine been suffocated by a pillow. I want a loud and deep sound - sort of like the barking my primary school teacher Miss Hamilton, who had whiskers, used to dish out when we were caught defacing the religious ed. books.

Sooo, I got a long skinny screwdriver, flathead to be exact and a hammer. I poked the screw driver into the back of the exhaust and whacked 4x7mm diameter holes into the internal back stopper thing inside the pipe. I then whacked in some more, and a few more then one more for good luck. I must've cleared out a few square cm.
I cranked my baby over and there it is, deep sounding throaty sound and a permantly fucked pipe :-)

Riding wise below 3k suck a little and mid range is probably down a few hp. I'll still get to work on time so no real worries, and it sounds good till I fork out bread on a yoshi or similar.

i got a mate who has a 2001 750 , the previous owner ground off the three allen bolts on the end of the stock can (they are welded on ), removed some of the baffles , and put back togethernow it sounds nice and throaty but looks like the original , not sure about hp gains or losses but no complaints about flat spots in the rev range

bite the bullet and buy a pipe , you have spent the money on the bike , so why not finish it off
i got mine from here , cheap $570 nz landed inc gst , better than $1099 here

LOL you rangi homo matt, like your style, you wana borrow my stumpy 2 bro's, now thats one loud horrible sounding pipe, looks fkn cool though, really needs some 2 1/2 inch perf tube whacked down the middle.
