Turns out there IS a cop around when you need one.

I'm usually hearing bikers complain that there are too many cops around when they don't want one but on my way through Auckland on Friday I was sure glad there was one in the lane next to me.
I was heading up North for the weekend and was happily cruising along the motorway when I trundled up next to a blue Mazda 6 and noticed it was a cop.
I was slowly cruising past him when I catch a glimpse of a white flash in my mirror and a fuckwit in a Corolla blows past me IN MY LANE!
I had to swerve towards the car next to me, the cop, to avoid been hit. Next thing on go the lights and off he goes and nails the prick. I don't think I've ever been happier to see a cop before.
Made sure I gave the fella in the Corolla a toot and a friendly wave as I went past.
Apart from that little incident the ride up North was fantastic. You Far North KB'rs sure are a lucky bunch.

Man, I would have stopped and made sure the copper booked him for everything possible. Then I would have seen whether or not you could have pressed personal charges too.

    Indeed they are.
We did 1157km around Northland over Easter, and the roads (apart from the one from Huahora to Ninety-Mile Beach) were great!
We saw two cops the whole weekend, both yesterday - one near Ruakaka with a speed camera, and another just out of Wellsford on SH16 giving a Ducati rider a talking to and/or ticket.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

LOL - tempting (and as deserved) as it is... I think the cop would have enough on their hands without the public offerings made after the fact.

c'mon - they get shit, abuse, questioned, under-resourced... let them have the pleasure of booking the cock suckers... it's probably one of the few real rewards they have

In my misspent youth I was in the reverse situation. Cop followed me for a number of kilometres (me totally oblivious on the RZ500). Eventually I stop to wait at a roundabout and he catches up... Pull over at the next straight bit, cop gives me the whole tut tut thing.. he either had to arrest me or let me go, I was being that naughty :/

Then the man in the ute screeches to a halt... rips in, demanding the cop books me for everything under the sun because I ripped up the centre line at warp speed. Looking back, he was quite entitled to his rant, but I was thinking 'ahhh dammit, don't need this right now'. I looked suitably humble, the cop eventually got rid of the cager, and sent me on my way with a warning. Was most embarrassing though ops:

That's because there are more good cops out there than there are malicious ones. Most of the anti cop posts are for when a cop oversteps the mark in the eyes of the general motorcycling public, eg targeting a motorcyclist with laser out of a line of cars when all are travelling at the same speed.

I'm sure we've all experience the cop who flashes his lights, or makes a slow down gesture with his hand much more frequently than we've been ticketed. And most of us will accept a ticket for a single offence when it simply desrcibes what we have in fact been doing. Its the ones that exagerate the situation at our cost that receive the most rants.

Grumpy: I am glad I was there to help. He was pissed off because he believed you were lane splitting and this was his revenge. All i could see was you disaperaing under my car if he had hit you.
Yes he was dealt with hit him in the pocket.

Never had this, ever.... No one I know has had this in the last 15 years.... I could only imagine it's because of lack of radar-lock or something...

This annoys me as I've seen the like too much lately. The motorcyclist is going to get some where before me so I'll try to kill him. Should be given dangerous for an excuse like that.
