    Worn Fairing Bolts

Have a couple of bastard fairing bolts that are worn so much that I can't get the allen keys to grip. Typically they are one on each side! What's the best way to get them undone without getting my frekkin drill out and risking breaking the fairing?

depends whether they're countersunk or not. If not get the hacksaw onto them & cut a slot for a flat head screwdriver. Otherwise the drill with a slightly oversize drill bit and a bit of TLC sounds like the best bet. Did that on an airbox of a CBR. No worries.

once you get them out, head down to the bike shop. They do replacement kits, or if you want you can get anodised bling ones at about $2 a pop.

Could also try supergluing the allen key into the bolt. Kinda doubt whether that would work though. Might do if the bolt isn't seized on. Unless anyone else has a better suggestion,go for the drill. Fairing bolts and stuff are usually fairly soft metal & hence easy to drill. Just take it nice and easy don't push to hard and you'll be fine.

Try using 2 minute araldite to glue you allen-key in place - worked for a mate of mine and yes, he DID get the bolt off the allen-key afterwards.

Get a left hand twist drill bit. Use your cordless drill in reverse. Eventually as you're drilling it out, it'll grab, and turn it out naturally
