Good Accomodation 30km South of Hokitika

Went down to Wanaka Air Show. Came back up West Coast. got pretty wet on the way back so stopped the night at the Historic "Empire Hotel" in Ross. They even supplied a seperate room for my bike, had a huge Steak at night and a cooked breakfast in the morning all for less than $60. Drunk Rum and played pool all night. Huge open fire to dry my kit. Just a great place, highly reccomended!! Cheers John

Ross. Home of the "Good Bastard" whose wife bought him a Centurian tank as a birthday present. Only on the Coast...

Right out front of the Hotel is the Ross Gold mine hole, not being worked at the moment. This is where Evan mined, he now has 2 Tanks, a Centurian and another later model from the U.K. plus alot of other big kit.

Mrs Oakie and I will be passing thru there sometime between next Saturday and Monday on our West Coast biking holiday. We may just drop in for a lunch time steak. Thanks for the info.
