    Doing up the ZXR...

Well as most of you know I wrote off the ZXR250 in Dec 05. Finally got onto sorting it out and attempting to get it back on the road and re-registered.

Aff-Man is helping me out HEAPS with getting it running... so far have had to buy a new battery, 4 new spark plugs, new oil, new clutch screw adjuster... windscreen... and windscreen screws/bolt kit.

Thats just the stuff I've bought recently, and there is still a little list of more things needed to get the ZXR back on the road.

Aff-Man and I have spent about 6 or more hours in total just trying to get her started.

I'd like to thank Aff-Man for taking the time to help me, and for teaching me all sorts of interesting things... like where my spark plugs are located on the ZXR, and how to drain the oil (haha... yeah I know I'm not the brightest crayon in the box). And for incouraging me not to waste my money on bits and pieces like anodised footpegs and other cosmetics the bike doesn't actually need right now

I'll keep updating this thread on the progress we are making and hopefully soon I'll be posting pic's of the fixed and runnign ZXR

Edit: Thanks also to Death for welding my footpeg thingy back together

Thanks... I can't wait to get her running again... got all excited when after ages of pushing the stupid bike up hills to try to push start her down the hill, she finally managed to come to life and not die instantly, which is when Jono found the interestign problem of pulling in the brake and the bike revved... then blowing the horn... and it revved... was really confusing... but we'll figure it out

    bloody oats.

It's gonna be a mean job though but someone has to do it... Basicall the bike doesn't idle and only idles when you got the throttle open full tit... intill you use the horn / brake etc etc (basically draw current) then it revs...

Got an idea on why it's doing that but will try on tuesday when I give it another crack.. Will also be pulling apart and cleaning the carbs cause they are stuffed and the stufff placid mentioned......

    Sounds completely fucked.
Not even the illustrious Mr Skid can root a bike that well.
    I reckon it'll bankrupt you.

was thinking that myself... that list doesnt seem like one worth trying to go through and tick off. Unless you want to have it as a streefighter, or know someone with cheap ZXR250 parts. You cant simply 'replace glass' and things like that.

Best bet would be to sell it off as a potential racer for the super streetstocks, or maybe even F3 after seeing vtec on his cbr250.

Are you running it off orig fuel tank? Check the vacuum make sure fuel hose is on properly I had identical issues running mine with a bottle that collapsed and kept flooding the bike with fuel. When it comes out of the exhaust you know you flooded it fuckin good

Even try towing it behind a car if the thing won't work, when they sit they get shit and take alot of push starting- mine has taken 5 days to fully clear out, still starts differently that it used to. Check battery too, just because it turns over does not mean it is giving enough for a spark on the plugs. (been there done that... )
