    What was wrong with the leaking brakes??
    Gonna be summer before it's ready?

    Just a loose bolt or something just as simple...

    lol more than likely will be summer before she is done. As much as I'm dying to be back on two wheels, I don't mind waiting a little longer...

    Still trying to save the $800 for new disc's & pads...

    Flush mount indicators off TradeMe shouldn't be more than $60.

    Then she is ready for the compliance and Rego test (another $400-ish)

    Sam and I are also trying to save to go to the UK in a year, so my spare money is split in two and half goes into savings and the other half on the bike... which slows the whole process down, but thats ok

    (Is kinda hoping to fix it up before November so Sam and I can get our full licenses on it, then sell it and buy me a 600 )

    If you post it up in Online Trading I'm sure someone will be keen to take it on as a project bike

    When that bike is ready PF, we should get a group of us ZXR's together and go out for a bit of a celebratory ride. Hopefully i can have my other bike up and running also!

    Yeah sounds like a good idea... but then all the other 250 riders might feel left out cause thier bikes are cuck (p/t).

    Blah Update

    ok... Got the indicators for the ZXR on Friday (went for the carbon fibre ones)

    The ZXR is getting new brake discs and pads this week along with a small issues with the headlight being fixed. Should go in for Compliance and Rego by Wed/Thurs and if all goes well I should be able to ride it home on Friday...

    Also waiting on a couple of quotes for a paint job... so if I get it painted it may take a week or two longer until I get it back...

    *is so excited*

    so how much has it cost you so far to get it back to road readiness? And how much did you pay for it originally?

    It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

    I paid $5000 for it originally (with all the mods on it already)

    Got it back from the insurance co for free... plus my insurance payout of $5500.

    In total I've spent approx (including whats been done to it at the moment):

    New Aftermarket Blue Tinited Widscreen: $65
    Windscreen Bolt kit in Anodised Blue: $20 not needed... just for bling factor
    New Spark Plugs: $80
    New Battery: $50
    Clutch Adjuster Screw: $20
    New top/front Fairing: $350
    Subframe: $120
    Instruments: $150
    New Clutch lever: $15
    Gear bracket/mount thingy: $60
    New Engine Cover thingy: $40 not needed... just for bling factor
    Engine cover Gasget: $15
    Anodised blue fairing bolts: $30 not needed... just for bling factor
    Carbon Fibre indicators: $60
    New Fork seals and fork oil - $300 (approx inc labour)

    ^^ work done so far
    Total: $1375

    Work left to be paid for:

    Brake Discs & Pads: $800
    Compliance & Rego: $450-ish

    Total so far: $2625

    Additional Add-ons

    Insurance: $629
    Paint Job: $600 not needed... just for bling factor

    Total cost of repairs: $3854

    Note: These are the things I can remember, I may have missed some things out, but I don't think so

    ~~~~~~~
    So all up the repairs of the bike, getting it road legal and looking pretty again comes $1000+ under budget
    I've decided that due to me being able to get my Full License in November, I won't be blinging the ZXR up, I'm saving my money and ideas to bling up my 600 instead
    Mt Eden Motorcycles in Auckland. Just standard discs. I was going to get some "wave" discs off trademe, but decided to save the bling bits for the next bike
    So when you get your 600, you'll be passing on your ZXR to Sam?
    Or does Sam have other ideas?
    90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.
