    First or 1000km service

Wondering what a motorbike mechanik will do at the first service is it the same as it says in the owners- manual service schedule , or do they have a different list of what to do. Don' t wanna get ripped off and pay megga bucks for the first service just to keep the warranty alive when all they would do is check the bolts and change oil and filter.
I can do that myself and I can take all the time in the world to make sure its done well...............

that's pretty much what they do - oil and filter, check everything over, stick the stamp in the warranty book, warranty stays alive.. sucks, huh? but it depends on who you take it to. I assume it's for the oooooo-eerrrr? So it'll have to be a kawa dealer, but by shopping around a bit, I've found that Spectrum (Barry's Point Road) gave me almost the best price, but by far the best service, over the shop where I bought the bike from originally.. The bike keeps it's warranty, I keep happy

What he said - the warranty will be null and void if you don't do this.

Does anybody know what the tolerances are on the 1000km or subsequent warranties? Mine was 1300km when I took it in - the shop was booked up the week i wanted to do it and raked up another 300km in the meantime. This won't affect my warranty will it?

dont think bein over will matter.....mine was over for its first as it hit it going into palmerston nth.

now its due for its 6000k service and im sure its overdue due to being without a speedo for 5 weeks [lost it outside taihape coming back from paeroa] and the stealership i got the bike from gave me the run around about where the part was [its coming from the south island....now its in a container etc] im booking it in this week when i can afford to be without transport.

buying the bike is just the first step in a long line of paying out..
what's ironic tho, is if you don't front up and keep the warranty up and something craps out, then you'll end up paying even more!

but hey, riding the bike is the reward and best part..

the service i think is free [mine was!] but certain parts that may need replacing wont be [bulbs come under this] the neutral light on my dash blew the first week i think and i had to pay for the replacement.

I just had my first service* today, and its what they said. clock showed 1152 k which was a bit over, but I couldnt get down there last weekend and went to Akaroa on Tuesday.

I only paid for materials: oil and filter, labour was free.

the more I deal with Ashburton Honda, the better I like them.

on the way home I might have seen an indicated double the speed limit.... woo hoo.

*sadly not that sort of service.

Mate suck it up and get a professional to do the first and rest of the warranty services. It will cost a bit but you know if something goes wrong, (which is highly unlikely these days), your warranty will cover it.

Nah upping the rpm recreases the speed of the oil pump, therefore increasing the amoumt of oil at higher speeds. So I've heard. In other words thrash the snot out of it.............
