One at the summit (half a dozen people hanging around, bike on side of road at the north side of the entrance to the car park), one half way down the Upper Hutt side (bike already on the back of a ute and covered in a tarp) and one on the new section of road on the Kaitokes (bike on the back of a tow truck, unmarked police just leaving, biker looked fine but gutted).
Hope everyone involved was ok, the road was a bit damp in places although I didn't find it greasy.

yea it would have been me you passed at the top, I was helping the fella put the bike on a trailer, That was a strange accident i tell ya, The whole bike self detructed. The front frame seperated causing the forks to fold under the bike. All this while riding a corner,

And the front chrome fork tube snapped.
DONT GET A DUCATI THEY ARE DANGEROUS
What if that happened while if a big truck was coming the other way.
I am not happy with the construction of that piece of shit.
And another bin added by myself on the way back over. Lucky it is only fairing damage I guess.
You know you had a good nite when you have to ask someone if you had a good nite.
Glad noone hurt. Couldnt think of anything worse to happen whilst cornering, except actually hitting a truck of course. Gee.. they will have a story to tell. I was so worried it was one of your organised rides that came a cropper. Was either rider with one of the rides or individuals? It shows why it is so much safer to ride as a group and have fellow riders around you to help and organise things. Also having full insurance because it pays for the pickup and storage of damaged bikes.
One of those new multistradas or some shit.
The same one that Kiwi rider is doing the test on
Why? Were you riding it? Do you own it? Are you looking to purchase? Why is it a heap of shit?Originally Posted by RG100!!
Unless you know the full facts of any incident, or affects you directly, it pays not to comment.

What would make a front fork go like that ? That is whats been implied here isnt it ? I hit a fence post in 1977 on my Sukie TS185 and both forks were bent under to the engine but they got professially straightened. Theres nothing wrong with most brands of bikes and Dukes are beauifully made machines, theres just got to be something more to this story. Smells of backyard repairs to me.....
The front frame supporting the forks. Still OMG !

Some things are worth dying for, living is one of them.
how many people actually saw the incident?
Sounds to me more like the result of an off rather than the cause
i turned up and had a chat with the rider and helped him load the bike on the trailer. He was ok just pissed off that his bike fell apart. He could not understand how this happend.
