    Parking

How do you guys park? It's probably a stupid question but sometimes I just get a little confused.

When it's busy and parking is bad I sometimes use the ol' "Park on the white line between 2 parallel(sp?) parks." Usually doesn't keep the cagers happy though.

What other ways do you guys park?

Depends on what traffic is like or how brazen I'm feeling. Usually a motorcycle park because there are heaps in the ChCh CBD. But sometimes I'll use a service lane, (between some of the old buildings) if I'm only going to be one or two minutes.

Would never park between to cages as you describe, how do they get out without reversing or driving into your bike?

Oh, and sometimes at the mall I'll park right outside Subway on the paved area, cause I just don't care

I reckon the park between 2 cars is a bit risky.
    Just take the whole park.

We have long parks in Napier. There is room for an average sized car (Ford Telstar size-ish) to get out perfectly fine. Their choice if they choose to wait for me to get out.

I just park any old where. Only ever had one parking ticket on the bike when I left it in a wheelchair space, go figure Whangarei is really slack for bike parking, there is only one desginated place for bikes in the CBD and it will only fit two bikes.

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?

I did that many years ago in Rangiora (North Canterbury.) This was in the era of seperate MOT and Police. The Local MOT orifice (who I had previous meetings with) was waiting outside when I came out of the shop and gave me a ticket for "riding on the footpath." WTF, he was nowhere about when I parked but I suppose it sounded good.

I went to court and explained to the judge that I had parked on the footpath after getting bikes knocked over in the past and wished to protect my bike from another accident.

I exited the court paying the grand total of $10 in court costs and with no fine. The judge was a gentleman.

And if that Ford Telstar is driven by a half blind 80yr old granny with arthritus in her neck would you still consider it?
I wouldn't recommend that habit if you like your bike right way up.

Me? I prefer to park on the footpath outside the pub, where I can see it.

I normally try to find any old palce where the bike is out of the way, but in clear view of any one walking by ...... nothing like getting your bike pinched from a dark alley..

Yeah right next to a push bike stand, sometimes on the footpath, but usually I can get in a motorcycle park.

I try and keep it out of the way... Just hooked up with a gas station, to park it in a park they have out of the way of cars, and they watch it for me... Beats the crap out of parking down the back of some seedy carpark, the official parking space.
