Brenchch gets screwed over by a 200

just been on the phone to Brenchch... now I have to start by saying that I was going to post a thread titled "Bren is the new *R1Aaron* (where the fk are you these days R1... you have lost your position as king of the port hills to Bren)
6months ago I had to show Bren how to wheelie his own bike, but after a quick spin with him last w/e where I was on Thunder's X K4 thou he had me pulling the pin as I wasn't keen to push the K4 any harder.
Bren had told me he has been putting in some practice in on one wheel.... well when like *r1* you spend every min of the day on the same bit of rd then yes ya get fast on it.... In Cooptown were we slowed down to 70k we both gave it a handful when the 100k sign came up I departed Cooptown on one wheel and was stoked with my efforts... but when I sat it down bloody Bren continued past changing up and disappearing into the distance.... bastards doing bloody well top effort.

NOW... this brings me to the title at hand, The Chch chapter of KB had just returned from a ride today and Bren reckons he hasn't covered enough k's, so he heads back up the port hills.

I'm going to let him tell the story but in the quick of it all he lost the plot with his riding by letting a 200cc trail bike kick his sorry arse... well till the trailey ended up on its arse.

    Bren take it over...

Then any one else have a story to tell where a chook chaser kicked ya arse?
    cheers DD

ok basically i was riding the port hills and in the distance i could see what looked like a big adventure/multipurpose bike, i tried to catch up but couldn’t, the rider must have got caught in traffic at the sign of the kiwi, where u cross over from the Sumner side to the ermm other side, so I’m behind him now, to me now it looks kinda small, like a 200cc thing, skinny little tyres on it! he spots me in his mirror and shoots off, i give chase, having fun till he starts to pull away from me... now 3-5mins has passed and i'm scraping knees, toes and anything else i can scrap to try and keep up with this guy round the corners.. but ooooohh he's still pulling away, i'm thinking WTF is going on lol! anyhow he disappears off round a few corners, I’m thinking ok he's gone, man what a rider, i mean skinny arse dual purpose tyres on what looked like an older 200cc machine... i felt amazed at his skill so i had a slice of the old humble pie. ok few corners coming up i dive in hard thinking i could catch him on the next straight with the obvious power advantage... wooooooaahhhhh there he is on his back with bike on ground... to cut it short the front tyre gave out on his bike, he was ok, rash to his leg and to his pride, a quick chat (him saying i did well to keep up, and that I’d won round 1 LOL) and bump start and he's off home to clean up, didn’t get his name, but he said he'd just got back from 4months in Singapore, looked like he had a HRC racing top on... anyhow despite the wee slip i was totally blown away by the skill. i know i'm not the fastest guy on the road but i'm not too slow, and to be owned by a dude on some multipurpose bike with knobblies was quite humbling! Anyhow... who was this mysterious man! he was mid to late 20's the bike was white!

    Oh dear....
Were you on the Summit Road? Lets face it, the Summit Road is bumpy as fuck, narrow and pretty fricken tight in places. Not exactly narrowly focussed sprots bike territory... but....
At the last Canty round I was watching John Lowther caning it around Ruapuna on his R1. Here's a guy who managed 8th in the NZ Production Superbikes championship, but he could absolutely KICK our collective arses. I couldn't believe the lean angles he was getting, or the total commitment and obvious skill as he dove into the dipper (my least fav corner) and then spun it up nearly all the way to the sweeper. Yet Rossi and co would likely own HIM.
What I'm getting at is there is a massive difference between a slow rider and a quick rider, and there is a massive difference between a quick rider and a genuinely fast racer. I'm picking that Bren ran into a properly quick rider... either that or he's still a nanna

so what this is basicly saying is that any of the Chch crew would have their asses kicked by some dude on an as yet unidentified 200cc dual purpose bike...

fkn LOVE the summit road... I aint at all fast on it but I just love riding it, the views, the corners, all make a nice wee blat, and only 5mins from home :spudflip:

ah Bren , ya just cant win em all eh?
Sounds like this bloke knew it damn well and just had the right bike for the area. Lets face it anything over 2nd or 3rd gear on that road is a waste of power, no point in a Blade up there, just too big to throw into those tight corners... having said that, at least you DIDN'T bin it! Now a nice motard would be perfect...maybe you should consider a trade-in

There's a few chookies that get around the summit that can easily embarrass larger more purposeful sports bikes, the biggest thing up there isn't outright power, its how its used.

Get someone on a trailie that can keep the terminal speed up and hold a smooth line will shaft a point & squirt sportbike any day.

Not blowing my trumpet but 15yrs ago i was one of those lunatic trailie pilots and when your dragging pegs up there on a trailie your moving quick
Its better to be using 50hp to its full potential rather than tickling up 100+ hp in small bursts
