Can I rent/Hire bike?

Hey guys would love to give off road riding a go at one of the parks, does either Woodhill or Thundercross Valley rent/hire bikes? price? contact details?

Well near woodhill bike park is a bike shop called BIKESPORT (its in waimauku)
and its about to move. They hire out bikes i think from 250-1000cc. Not sure wat they hire out be good to call them

Thundercross would be the better option (so long as its dry!) for a learner. The heavy sand at Woodhill will quite possibly put you off at first, it takes a while to get the hang of. If you want, post up a meeting here and get a group of KBer's to come along, they can give you some pointers and its always good to go with a riding buddy (particularly one that already knows the tracks). I'd be keen to come along if it was on a weekend I was available.

yeah I'd possibly make the trip too. Need to mix it up a bit, been to that MX track in Onehunga a few times too many.

You really have to go to woodhill for the first time when its wet, its holds the sand together a bit nicer, the small wooded bit to the left of the car park (facing the beach) isnt as deep sand and is good for a learner, the other thing is stand up and let the bike move, dont fight it!

Quite right, just watch for the washouts after really heavy rain! Also, at all times keep the weight back and the power on as much as possible, the lighter the front end is the easier sand becomes.

One thing that is good about woodhill for learners, is heading down to the beach. Its a great place to get a feel for a bike if you are fresh on to it for the first time. However, all in all, for a newbie dirt bike rider (that has already ridden road bikes so knows how to work the controls already), trail rides on dirt would be preferable to on sand I reckon.

And its funny going to the top of the hill and watching people try get back up to the park lol! Seen many a remuera tractor stuck on the beach due to shit tires and drivers alike, pffft the mighty 1300 of my truck gets me up fine and so did the xr!

oh and careful on the whoops heading to the beach my mate had to drive a guys car, trailer and bikes home for him after he paniked and put himself into a tree thre and broke his femur in front of his son as well

Did you check them for prices? I'm interested to see. Some hirers require hefty deposits or bonds.
