Red face Hey look another 'First bike' thread...

Hi guys and girls just found this site a few days ago and have been lurking since then ( confirmation email got sent to junk folder >_< )
I've always wanted to get my bike licence as I've always had heaps of fun riding them on private property in the past but I need a bike and a couple of questions answered first.

People on here seem to have their personal favourites but most seem to agree the CBR250RR is a pretty decent bike to learn on, I like the look of it anyways
    Here's a couple I found on trademe
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...770&key=406899
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=54339728
and while browsing I found this smaller Aprilia http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...64869&key=8659
but I can't find much info on them.
Would they fit someone 6ft 90kg?

Basically I'm after a low maintenance sports bike, it doesn't have to go a million miles an hour but I'd like something that is fun with decent acceleration. Any suggestions or should I just start bidding on one of those above

    Thanks for reading.

    Welcome aboard.

The size of the bike might suit you - you're possibly on the tall side for one but it should be ok.

    Welcome!
I don't know too much about the CBR or the Aprillia, but there will be others here with useful information for you.
Good luck getting your licence, and have fun shopping for a bike.

    the rs125 is a 2 stroke - avoid
the cbr will be good i'd be wary of the repainted one, it's probably been crashed, fixed and thats why it's getting painted

Welcome to KB mate. If you want low maintenance I would suggest a four stroke. I bought an old bike for a learning the road bike and I tidied it up a little and it never broke down on me. Did over 10,000ks in the first year of having a road licence.

GN250s are damn cheap if you weren't too worried about going to a sports bike.

Summary of most of the 250 sports bikes on there. Read what respective owners have to say.

Don't overlook the bandit! 250 Suzuki bandit, nice naked bike, goes well and suitable for the bigger frame... 4 stroke, 4 cylinder, revs to 15,500revs, yum...

    Welcome to KB.

Don't get too hung up on the first bike. It is only a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Just get what you can, as cheap as you can, and just enjoy the early experiences. Once out on the road you will get the experience and then you will be in a better position to decide which bike you really want.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Defo on with the cheap - a naked bike is good. Try and avoid trademe... things seems to go for way more than what you can get them for else where. And I don't recon you should dish out more than $4k for any CBR250.
