Ah, the steeds of steel - don't we just love 'em - despite all the mental/financial/physical anguish they cause us from time to time.

They ain't THAT bad - only had to replace an oil light sender unit (twice, faulty batch, covered under warranty) and fix the frame end of my earth strap from the battery, that's it in the last 5 years.

Apart from the usuals like WOF and tyres etc.

Not much chance of a 100 year old piston fitting a modern engine. I think that the sparkplug is probably the one thing that you could take a 100 year old one and put it into a modern engine and have it work . (Hmm 100 years might be touch and go, I don't know what thread the very first ones had,but certainly 80 years, the present 14mm was around in the 1920s)
didn't use threads- they were hammered in with a rock

Ahh, the episode that coined a new phrase 'jump the shark.' Any show that is suffering in the ratings after being strong and completely changes direction to attract more ratings is now considerd to be 'jumping the shark'. It also normally indicates the death of the series.

as some have mentioned, the yama R6 with the YCC-T-fly-by-wire throttle, (chip controlled throttle) , it uses electro-hydraulic actuators to opperate the control surfaces according to electronic signals sent to it by a computer..where the twistgrip turns a sensor which is connected to the fuel injection computers, (as theres 3 CPU's on the r6) then it calculates everything to decide the injection butterfly position etc etc - reading all the bike mags you can get ur hands on comes in handy..
