Like buggy said there is two bolts the one in the centre of the circular plate will be for the filter, do not undo this first as it makes a large mess especially if you are doing it inside your barracks as its raining outside, or so someone told me
As for starting mine always liked a little choke in the morning to catch and then pretty much turn it off striaght away.
A good oil to use in these bikes is Castrol GPS a semi synth oil about 50 bucks for a container and 2 containers will do 3 changes.
If you have any mechanical issues most bike shops, ie spectrum charge bugger all to change it for you , oil that is.
