The most thrilling bike

I had the opportunity to ride one of these last year. The owner followed on my bike, so I didn't do anything too silly, but they are just stupid fast. The throttle response is like nothing else I've ever ridden.

I'm not sure I'd want to own one though, unless I had another bike for everyday use.

I spotted an H2 in Paihia awhile back, plastered in dust. Looked like it had done a good few k's on our twisty gravel roads to get that filthy.

Much impressed I was. Dunno if the rider took a wrong turn or had exceedingly large maltesers.

Z H2. It's the naked H2 with less power. I understand that the suspension is not as good either.

The most frightening bike I ever rode was the Budget alky burning GSXR1100. It had already wounded trev Kirby and Marty Dock before Holden climbed on and broke lap records wherever we took him.
I rode it at Ruapuna. Old short track with dipper. Holden had set the lap record under 50 sec, I think I did about 1 minute.
Come round the sweeper in 3rd, rollit upright and when it hit 7000 it broke into wheelspin for 100 yards. Broke traction again at each upshift.
Holden of course came round in 2nd, up in the power and drifting....

It later ran 190plus mph in a flying quarter. Laying rubber from the start right into the traps about 3/4 mile away. Gaps in the line where he'd changed gear.
Small light rider on it for that one - plus an 18in rear for a longer footprint.

Ruapuna - under 50sec first time. Levels old circuit record still stands. Teretonga - first under 1 minute. Manfield - first under 1.10.

the most slippery shape is a teardrop that has the blunt end facing forward. Like a dustbin fairing

Reading about german land speed record bikes in the 30's (?) best shape was described as a "wet rat"

they are slippery granted, but according to bert are not stable at near 200mph
that said sharkskin like gold balls dimples might have an effect

Hey it's Xmas and nothing to do till I mow grass. Here's another fav,probably cos I built it myself . Great road bike and handy on a track too.
135 at the tyre and much lighter than stock. I weighed all the shit I took off it at 30 kgs !!! ( Carbon bodywork and front guard as well).

the cr 500 post reminds me of a bike a mate of mine bought. Yamaha SC500.That was definetly the most thrilling bike I to rode. It hd a habit of micro seizing so th rides were always short.I had forgotten bout it till the above post
