Hamilton bike shops ?

For a 20 min trip it would be worth chekin out Phils Motorcycle centre in morrinsville.....you could kit yrself out with most of the gear for the same price that the Ham shops charge for just 1 item.Real good to deal with & their prices are sharp as.Good luck.

They are actually open on Saturdays. I think it's 9:00am to 12:00pm. Worse is the weekday hours. I can't even drop off my bike BEFORE or AFTER work cos they're not open that early or late. WTF??

Well I went to all three of those shops mentioned on Te Rapa and I'm pleased to report that all the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, a refreshing change to some past experiences so thumbs up for them _b
Got all excited by all the shiny toys and ended up grabbing a whole bunch of stuff from Road & Sport, now I just need a bike hahaha.

Heh cheers Zero, I'm getting there one step at a time

Not wanting to spend more than $5k but I'm one of those silly people that must have a bike that is aesthetically pleasing to me while still maintaining functionality :P
I like the full fairing look even if it means I end up scratching them all to buggery.

If you take it easy, and take time to learn your limits, and expand them, the bike may yet stay shiney!
Aesthetics are a large part of what bikes are about, I mean, think of those poor bastards that ride harleys!

Full fairing look is good, but as I have learnt from advice on this site, go for 'the cheap bike' option first, to learn the ropes etc*, and then, when you feel confident enough, then get a better bike (it'll also give you a chance to put some more cash together).. The next bike I'm wanting is the Hyosung GT250R, cause it's full-size frame, and I think it looks pretty.. My other choice was the Suzuki GSX-250.

*etc includes: binning, dropping, having a good time without worrying about expensive repairs..

I've binned twice so far, Weekend 1, and Weekend 3.. I've now completed 3000km on my bike, and am feeling confident enough to trust myself with a more powerful fully-faired bike.. unfortunately, my wallet isn't confident enough yet

.

..to sum it up, go get your learners, and go find a cheap bike to start with, and go from there

"take it easy"? having a cheap bike is all about the opposite

**here are the times you risk stuff you might try later on an expensive bike, and if you fail, it won't take 2 years to pay back for repairs

................ok, fine I admit it, I've gone mad..

from my recent purchase's i found that the honda shop had a far better selection of gear and better prices as well.

never had time to pop into the motorcycle centre on the other side of the rd (takes too much energy)

When I first ot my gear I bought it all from Boyds. Had time on my hands and wanted best bang for bucks, so I looked in all the bike shops in Hams. Boyds was the cheapest. And then when I went up to go and pay for everything they knocked off about 15-20% because I bought it all there (Helmet, Jacket, Pants, Boots, Gloves...well into 4 figures still) but still good bang for buck.
And ever since that first big purchase I have always got discounts when buying from them be it tyres, chain lube, whatever.
I wouldn't go anywhere else in Hamilton unless they didn't stock what I needed.

As for fully faired bikes I can't say I liked the Suzuki GSX250 very much. It could wind out to 170 cos it had fairings but at anything under about 130 my naked VTR will out accelerate them and I don't have to ring the nuts off it to do it. (Of course these speed test were carried out on the track....Tui anyone?)

Go see Aaron @ Boyd Honda - he knows his stuff and will pop down the road to the supplier and get a lid for you if they dont have them in stock...

Me likes Boyd Honda...so far have spent over $20k with 'em (eeeeeek, hope the wife doesnt see this!!)

Boyd's have been the only shop to chuck me keys for a test ride, no matter what license I had.

I had my learners for 2 days, and they let me take a vtr250 for a spin, while other shops didn't offer me a ride at all.

Last week Greg boyd chucked me the keys to a hornet, but I turned down the ride (scared I will spend money I don't have

every other shop seem to make a big deal out of test rides .. how do they expect to sell bikes if they don't let you ride them ???

Hamilton Motorcycles won't even talk to me .. I've been there 4 times, and never ... *NEVER* has anyone come to talk to me .. I must have retard tattooed on my forehead
