Are there any crap bikes any more???

OK, Here we go..... Are there any REALLY CRAP bikes made any more????
GIVEN that speed limits are 100+9kmh
    GIVEN that petrol is <$1.70/litre
GIVEN that NZ Roads are generally crap (especially during these REALLY exciting winter months)
GIVEN there are LOTS of speed cameras etc.
GIVEN that any review for ANY M/C in ANY M/C Magazine MAY indicate a slight problem (such as Shedloads of vibration in the grips) but still recommend any bike tested.

GIVEN the above, I RECKON THAT A Brand new 2006 GSX 750F that is available for $10.995 is pretty good, let alone a flash harry anything else.

    Can ANYONE PROVE ME WRONG??????!!!!!!!

If you can, please recommend a fantastic alternative machine that can fulfill an average motorcycling dream in NZ's current climate. (Other than a trade me hack) Otherwise why spend more than $11k on a brand new bike of any other brand?????

(Trust me, please prove me wrong)

Personally I agree with you, but we must face the fact that motorcycles are not bought on purely practical grounds. They are mostly an emotional purchase refelecting the individual's personal likes and dislikes. They are like women, (sorry, should say "persons"), in a way, each appeals to different tastes and what one finds attractive another doesn't.

There are no crap bikes. But. The GSX600F is better value than the GSX750F. It only gives away 8 HP to the 750, is slightly lighter, and costs $9995.

You may also be able to pick up a new '05 Kawasaki Z750S for $11000 is you know who to ask. Better than both GSXF's if you ask me, but then I'm biased.

You could always look at the new Kawasaki ER6. Seems to get good reviews and should be cheap to run.

If you're really looking for a bike that's cheap to maintain as well as run, you could look at the ER5 or GS500. Parallel twins have less valves (well everything I guess), are usually easier to work on so should cost you less in servicing costs.

Your choice is also comprimised a bit by what sort of riding you want to do (ie commuting, touring?), and also your physical dimensions. Not much use you getting a V Strom if you're 5'2", or a GSXR if your 6'5".

I also presume that you've got your full licence? Otherwise it's the 250s for you.

But the guys are right. You don't usually buy a bike purely on logic, or we'd all be riding around on 125cc singles.

I Heard those bandits were good bikes - not so? They can't be that bad with an old school GSXR motor slung in them.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..

They're fine bikes. And Harleys outsell Kermit bikes by miles.

That's right, Bandits are outstanding bikes!! Even the 250s! Don't go about lowering the value of my bike with mindless mutterings!

I took the KTM950SM for a test ride from AMPS yesterday, perfect for NZ roads anytime of the year, and heaps of fun to! I'd be happy to ride this bike in any weather, anytime of the year plus I love the look of it!

There are no crap bikes, anything with two wheels and an engine is better than not having two wheels and an engine, having said that there are quite a few I wouldn't be seen dead on!
I enjoy the random variety of bikes and their riders, if we start dictating personal taste we will lose all of that, and kill all the arguments on this site.....

    Pull ya head in fella

It wasn't that many years ago that the open road speed limit was only 80kmh and to boot now the open road limit tolerance level is lower than the 10% variation.
If you got to worry about the cost of fuel then you shouldn't even have a motor vehicle.
Our roads aren't as bad as many countries around the world, thats why so many come here to tour because we have the roads & the scenary
Ha speed cameras lols woopdee shit, the fixed location ones everyone knows about & the mobile ones are easy to spot let alone any other vehicle that has passed one warns you anyhow.
As for magazine tests, its their job to point out minor faults & failings of new bikes. but those faults & failings that one person identifys my be something that another person couldn't give a monkeys left tit about. Half the testers live in a fantasy world spoilt by riding the creame of the crop bikes all the time, where as go check what their personal bike is, it may very well be older & something that another tester had faulted quite badly.

Its all about individual choice of machine, theres no such thing as a crap bike, theres plenty of crap riders. The bike that suits one may not suit another and that definately doesn't make it a crap bike

Easy to argue a point with only one set of parameters, however by your reckoning we should all be farting about on 125s.

If you want a GSX750F then get one. Are you looking for justification or something?

How about because I can and thats all the proof you need.
