Can you give me your reasons why you think these bikes are shit particuarly the boulevard. Not trying to create an argument here but i hear comments like this a lot but dont really get a reason why. What model boulevard you rode would be an advantage also.Cheers.

There's no wonder about it, we're just waiting for age, or the law of averages, to catch up.

Masterbike? That sounds far too much like masterbate.
Do you really care what journalists think about your bike?
Would you sell it if they decided it was shite?

If you're referring to maturity Lou, it's gotta happen one day. Or so I keep telling my family. If you're referring to wear and tear with age, that's happening already. Both knees and wrists aren't too hot when I get off the bike each morning.

The law of averages? Oh yeah, and karma too... I'm sure them and their kinky friend Darwin are chugging down cold ones at the local trying to come up with a gameplan

Maturity eh. Not really familiar with that concept. But the aches sure moved me to a nekkid bike.
Still, if Quacka bring out a Z1400, then all the others will do the same.

    Ill second that,

I could push mine with the back brake on, tried to do a stoppie and the front brake was never the same, buzzy plastics, a crappy light switch which turned my headlights off at random, oh and a loose wire cost me $400!!! Top speed dropped about 10km/h after 2000k, Centre stand pin bent, making it scrape the road almost sending me off, Changed the oil and found little bits of metal, at that point I decided to move on...

Fuel economy sucked for this kind of bike.

Also Suzuki NZ seems to have removed info about the SJ125 off their site.

I also found that chinese manufacturers had managed to copy the exact same model. Wonder how they got the tooling so easily?

My bet is on the fact tht the SJ125 is in fact a chinese made scooter, with a Suzuki badge on it.

It's a heck of a lot different from the good old 1980's where even some new bikes were sometimes unreliable (ducati Paso anyone?) One bike I had was the dear old GSX400X Impulse (Repulse) which was a hoot, but gave me monstrous leg cramps after only 116 km's. It's certainly a good time to be in the market, given so much choice.

Test road a R100RS when contemplating getting rid of Gerty. Fucking horrible. Harsh seat/suspension setup, common fix-fit Konis. Poor handling at slow speed and........................

Had an R65, the earlier smaller framed model, for three years and was glad to get rid of it. The CX500 I've just purchased is a far better bike IMHO.

What you must remember about the r100rs, is they are well over 20 years old.
My step father has one stashed away in the back of the shed. Yes they handle like crap compared to modern bikes. Name a bike made in the '70s that doesnt. Like I said, test ride a boxer cup or a r1100s or r1100rs, a whole nuther ball game...

In saying that, he has had the old r100rs for a good 15 years now, done billions of miles, including a tour of europe on it, and never even had the head off. As i said.... reliable as hell and easy to ride all day
There is no dark side of the moon, really, as a matter of fact. Its all dark...

    I was comparing 20 plus bikes .

The old man's happy with his 89 R80 as well. Which is all that really matters in the end. It's just that air heads didn't float my boat. Tried a Cagiva and Moto Guzzi around the same period too.

Out of curiosity what shocks has your old mans RS got?
