Out of curiosity what shocks has your old mans RS got?
It runs stock bmw shocks. The bike rides real well on them, the only thing with the rs is you need to use real good front tires, otherwise you get hell tankslap under 40mph, also you need to run bmw brake pads... all the aftermarket pads make the brakes feel like they are rimu!
There is no dark side of the moon, really, as a matter of fact. Its all dark...

I could push mine with the back brake on, tried to do a stoppie and the front brake was never the same, buzzy plastics, a crappy light switch which turned my headlights off at random, oh and a loose wire cost me $400!!! Top speed dropped about 10km/h after 2000k, Centre stand pin bent, making it scrape the road almost sending me off, Changed the oil and found little bits of metal, at that point I decided to move on...

Fuel economy sucked for this kind of bike.

Also Suzuki NZ seems to have removed info about the SJ125 off their site.

I also found that chinese manufacturers had managed to copy the exact same model. Wonder how they got the tooling so easily?

My bet is on the fact tht the SJ125 is in fact a chinese made scooter, with a Suzuki badge on it.

    suzuki made in china=shit
    the sj story
my earth wire broke on mine, shite copper, the exhaust cracked, got it welded up-cracked in a different place, eventually it snapped right after the header! on a straight smooth bit of road! that was the last straw.
mine did 100kmh, shite rear brake, suzuki fucked the shoes instalation and the wheel finish too, so the shoes sat 10mm too far in the wheel, and consequently wore a grove 2mm wide in em due to the rough cast alloy wheel.
the airbox brackets broke in half, then the air box would come off the carb when hitting manholes, and the engine would die....just like the new GN another example of suzuki quality.
another baddy was a Er500 kwaka i rode, notchy box, heavy, terrible handling.i was glad to get off it!

    Blah

A guy who grew up in the town where the new gn is built told me that suzuki makes the engines in japan, then ships them complete to china where the rest of the bike is built and assembled.
I don't know if its true or not but it seems to be about consistant with my new gn. The engine seems fine, nice finish no apparent problems after 7500km in four months.
The rest of the bike however is pretty awful. The chrome is rusting in spots, the back of the muffler fell out, nuts and washers odd sizes and types, the mirrors fell apart, so far no evidence of any grease on anything i've taken off, even the chain plates are pressed crooked.
But for $3500 i'm just welding the bits that fall off back on and to hell with it, as long as the engine keeps going I don't care Damn good fun to ride down gravel roads too
