Don't even think about making a alloy cradle for the frame, mild steel bro, gets rid of an amazing amounts of the vibes and won't crack in 10 mins like the one I had did!
thats exactly what I was thinking...and possibly a lil sand in the cradle too...

    Paint it brown....

    Call it the "poomobile"....

    You'll be sorted....

Ya could possibly turbo the single as well.. Don't know how legit ti would be for racing though.
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

OK, Richard and I set out to build a similar bike to this years ago. It was a air cooled KX500 in a RGV250 chassis. (F3 rules of the day stipulated Air cooled 2 strokes of 500cc)
See thread below for an interesting article on said bike
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...t=18859&page=2
In particular check out post 27 for pics in it's very early stage of development. (still had alloy cradle and no airbox)
How fast was it? fast enough for me to qualify in 2nd place after only 3 laps at A Ruapuna nats round and that was a air cooled motor, Poos one will be water cooled!
I'd like to add that the rider of the time for F3 was Tony McMurdo and his ZXR400 was a LOT faster than any you will see racing today. I know he spent 4k on balancing and lightening the crank alone and that was his "spare" motor! I "think" he also had it running on methanol!!!

I had a look at that article MrPeanut and straight away I saw a lot of things that were not done right. For a start you do not use a CR500 motor for this kind of project, I'm not being biased but for many reasons the KX is better (more power, better mounting points, more robust, the list goes on)
The cradle in the NSR500 project did not look up to the job and as we found out Aluminum frame cradles were NOT the way to go, the mild steel one was so much smoother it was unbelievable. Poos idea of using sand in it is a very clever one me thinks.
Did the RGV500 vibrate? hell yeah, but it was so much fun to ride I just did not notice it.
We did away with the kick starter all together and bump started it.
The NSR500 pipe is a sad, sad joke, check out the pipe on the RGV500!
All that was is a straightened out copy of an original pipe with a little tuning aimed at boosting the top end, and it fit beautifulyl!
I've offered poos to lend my FMF desert race pipe to get a straightened out version of that made (desert race pipes are tuned for more top end too)

The single biggest difference to performance was the airbox. Richard fabricated that and fitted it and the bike went from being a near front of mid pack to near pole sitter over night!!! (we even ran a crude ram air system on it!)
Oh, I also learn t, NEVER bore out an oval carb!!!! I had to nick the standard one of my KX250 after that debacle lol

Done right, Poos project has more potential than most would ever guess.
I'm betting if I could put that close to pole just a fraction of a second behind Tony's fire breathing eye watering monster of a 400 with a air cooled motor, a water cooled one will give those SV650's a HUGE fright!

I've done 1:18 flat on my kx500 motard bike round manfield and the motor was running not so hot (a wisco in a standard nicosil bore, opps!) With a standard piston it would have easily been a 17, and this is a 92 model KX500 with soft pasta mascarading as forks and all the aerodynamics of a brick!
Think about that tasty tig running the 450 Yamaha 4 stroke motor in f3, it was beating Terry's super hot SV at some tracks at the nats. Now consider my KX500 thrashed Dennis Charlotts Husaberg 650 down the straights at manfield! (it was nearly 3 seconds a lap faster!)
Roll on Poos, unleash the beast!

Bear in mind poos: the 'beast' sugi is refering to is the bike, not that wiff of manhood that you bother the sheep with.
