Well, Kickaha rocked up this morning and we headed off on the MG to meet Manuboy, Rashika and Thunder.
Bloody cold ride to Timaru it was but enjoyable. Found the street that the Kat lives on and dragged the bike out of the garage. looked a little run down but for a 24yr old bike not bad nick.

Took the tank off and it was dry so filled it up with some fresh gas and injector cleaner. drained the carbs and this brown goo dribbled out so I left the full tap open and the bowl drains open to run the fresh gas through it.

Droped the new batt in and figgered it was time to start her up, and considering it hasn't been ridden for 5yrs, I wasn't too hopeful, 18 months ago the guy put some oil in the plug holes and as we couldn't get the plugs out figgered ahhh hell crank it over.

Started almost straight away, no odd sounds either... wicked aye?
Kickaha put some air in the tyres with the front being at 6psi and the rear 10... then headed for home.
Bike ran well we swapped at Templeton and I rode it around the airport, reckon it will do well on the track altho it seemed to go dead after 7500rpm... but next w/e I'll give it a scrub up and minor tune.

Camera batt is dead so will post a pic tomorrow of the group... as soon as I got home I removed the sky satellite anntena from the rear, looks way better already.
Thanks for the help Kick and good ride you others.
    cheers DD

Suzuki tanks rust on the inside so fill the carbs with silt. My kat had about a cm of brown sludge in them. A thorough clean would be the caper before giving it any stick. Careful installing a fuel filter. One they aren't fine enough to stop the silt & second the shortness of the hose causes a kink with a straight filter section that will make the bike starve often as not.

Paper air filter could be well stuffed by now with mildew & crud. Plugs easily could be garbage.

Picked up a magazine I don’t often see, classic motorcycle mechanics. They had an article grafting a seat unit from a GSXR thou onto an original Katana.

Sacrilege! I hear you say? Erm, well not really. It looks far better than the pillion seat & suits it quite well. Like it could have been original. Kool!
Don't you look at my accountant.

All sounds good about the Kat D. Are they its jumper leads hanging up in your gargre?

By the way, if you are looking for a new battery or memory for your camera, I just bought some bits from www.flashcards.co.nz/. Their prices are real sharp and delivery is next day.
I have just found out that they have removed the word gullible from the dictionary

Oops, didn't realise this would go in the middle of a thread. Have added it at the end.
