Same here as well. I bought a Suommy Gun or some shit a while back. Real happy with myself cause I scored it off Colemans at 50% off discount! Took out on my first race meet and I did more than write off the helmet. 160kmph high side and I landed on the head first. Nearly all of it had deep scratches.Originally Posted by WINJA
I know someone else who bought an Aria RX7-RR for $1000 and crashed and put a huge crack on the forehead with a high speed smash in traffic on the motorway! That was almost instantly after buying the thing.. Then I also know of this other dude who did the exact same thing with his Aria RX7-RR...
When I bought my Spool 1 pc... I hadn't crashed on the road for years and years... Then on the first ride on the new suit, I come off while going at 50kmph on a straight line FFS!!! Both bike and suit were scuffed in after that..
I have some rather disturbing stories which are a little too weird to be just coincidence... So I just scuff up new stuff as soon as I buy it.. It most probably is all in the mind but I'd rather play it safe and put the mind at ease than let the unfortunate happen..
Jeeze, all you guys scuffing up, I am forever trying to spruce my tatty old gear up.
Question: Have any of you used that "Sno-Seal" on your leathers?
I bought a small tube to try because both my old rain suit and my leather pants are leaking now.
We got caught in the Lindis Pass in the snow the day after ANZAC day and with a wet arse it got very cold.
Don't scuff your gear, it will be scuffed soon enough in my opinion. Cheers John.
HOW IS THAT SUOMMY LID MOTO , WAS THE QUALITY AND FIT OK ?Originally Posted by Motoracer
Everyone's head is different. Different head shapes tend to fit different helmets better. For instance the desgines for European helmets are completly different to Asian helmet desgines, due to differences in head shapes..Originally Posted by WINJA
Even amongst the locals, some helmets fit better than others for different individuals. Aria works for some, AGV for a select few (many hate them) and Suommy is my pick for my head shape.
The one I had "Gun" something or rather was OK.. Bit noisey but during my 160kmph highside, I was completely fine.. No head aches or anything... It worked extreamly well during the crash (my luck probably played its part as well there in my favour)..
The one I wear now is the top of the line Suommy helmet, the Spec 1-R. It's the most amazing helmet I have ever worn.. Fukin light as fuk and minimal noise. As for comfort, I barely notice the thing as that's how well it fits my head and that's how comfy it is...
The only negetive aspects of Suommy helmet are the fact that you don't have a half decent dealer here in NZ and parts are very rare to get (visors, side pods etc..). Speaking of which, the side pods on the Suommy helmets have a desgine flaw in them... Once you hit over 200-300kmph mark, you can easily loose them as the quick realease on them is a bit stupid.. I lost my one 3 fukin times FFS!!! Might as well just duck tape the fukin things on!! I know of about 4 people who lost the side pods from a Suommy as well... (Side pods are the panels that hold your visor down btw).
THE SIDE PODS ON MY ARAI WERE A PROBLEM THE WIND FROM THE FAIRING AT HIGH SPEED IN A CERTAIN POSTION MADE THE POD VIBRATE REAL LOUD I THOUGHT I SHIT MY MOTOR THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND I WAS GONNA PULL OUT OF A RACE BUT AS I SLOWED I REALISED IT WAS THE HELMETOriginally Posted by Motoracer
Lol Yea, I heard that about Arias. I take it, you don't wear any earplugs then? I never leave home without it now.Originally Posted by WINJA

That's it, stout denial. I find it's usually the best bet. Take note folks - it was all a hoax. Or a joke. Or a mistake . Or a bad dream. Or something. And Mr WINJA always keeps his petrol tank full to the brim.Never runs low on fuel.
