NZ Drivers licence - paper or plastic

Just going through my paperwork for the forthcoming New Zealand holiday, and I have found my old NZ licence - plastic covered paper - it has an expiry date of 31/07/2024, and the address is my (deceased) parent's address which is no longer valid - question is, is the licence still valid?
I have a full UK bike and car licence, so I don't see any problems legally riding but I am curious about the NZ licence.
Can anyone advise?

The NZ Licences have changed and the one you have is no longer valid dispite it's expiry. Lifetime licences where pulled and you now have to get a replacement every 10 years or so depending on age.

Your UK licence will be ok here for up to a year in a single visit.

Mate if you have a full UK drivers licence, for at least 2 years.
All you have to do is bring in your UK licence with passport..... pay your $47 I think it is and they will give you your brand new New Zealand licence.~
Easy as that. That is for car and bike. anything else I think you have to set a test.
My lady has a Portuguese licence. Rules changed as of the 1st Oct. So she could just do a change over. (she still keeps her Portuguese one).

I'd keep it as a momento and use the uk licence for the holiday.

Added bonus of being able to feign confusion and remorse to the road-side revenue collectors and hoping for a warning only..... (we got let off in the uk because the officer told us it was too hard collecting fines from speeding kiwis so not worth him doing the paperwork )

If for some reason you want to renew your licence tell them you lost the old one.

The licence is still valid. The format that it is presented in is not. Likewise, the now 'lifetime' licences are also valid for your lifetime, however the card that records your details expires every so often. You only have to sit the licence tests once.

Not quite. If you fail to renew your lapsed card within a certain timeframe, you must start from scratch as a new licensee would. Apparently.

Interesting question and answers - i recently found my old "lifetime" licence. I too wondered about its current validity or lack of. When it was issued I couldn't even imagine the reality of the expiry date (2036 or something like that); bearing in mind it was issued in 1980something. Heck, I couldn't even imagine still being alive or so old by then!!!! hahaha. how the advance of the years changes your perspective
