was pulled over recently by some area something who trains the local cops in how to verify how loud a car is (he used the highly scientific mashing of his foot into my car quite rudely and stomping on the throttle, should have slipped it into gear and dumped the clutch while letting off the handbrake!!), and to cut a long story short he said he could use that(annoyace thing) whenever he likes and that if i tried to take it to court that he would win no question!! this sort of thing just rubs me the wrong way. just cause I am in the zone( 16- 25 and male) I get a heap of shit from the fuzz. oftern get follewed for bloody miles for ne reason, even if I pull over I have had them just stop behind me and wait till I get going again(this was when I was young(17), these days in my old age and wisedom(20) I would jump out and go question them as to why this was happening.

I have one friend who pulled a wheelie on upper Queen Street in Auckland a couple of years ago.

His penalty?

He was killed by a car driver who freaked.

Sorry to hear that Slim. It wasn't what I expected to draw out. Sort of started this as a fact finding mission on what fine, demerits or possible loss of licence we could face. In that regard I've uncovered 2 tenths of bugger all so far. I think a fair few members here have lost a friend to a bike crash. All we can do is remember them once in a while.

So something as simple as the colour of your bike could "cause annoyance" to some people couldn't it. It's a bit of a worry really.

Anyway, back to the topic. Ken was heading south near the Haywards lights, and saw one of his mates heading north. Ken pulled into Manor Park and did a u-turn to chase his mate. As he was heading north he was in the right-hand lane, passing a group of cars, and pulled a wheelie as he was accelerating. One of the cars was the infamous mufti red Falcon. The rest of the story is pretty obvious.

I'll say, surely there is no law against that!

Well apparently I was to be ticketed for dangerous or reckless driving. I had the titanium sliders on - so there were a few sparks at the time (well ALOT).

The fuckwit proceeded to try and lecture me about dangerous riding. I just asked him some simple questions. Has he ever ridden a motorbike? He said no, I then politely asked him how the fuck he knew cornering with your knee down was dangerous then? I told him I could show him hundreds of hours of race footage that showed many riders cornering with their knee down.

My argument to him was - which of course I told him politely: I was well within my lane at all times, I was in full control of the bike, I was within the speed limit, I had traction at all times (no diesel that time) and I was riding to the road conditions. Therefore he had no grounds for dangerous driving other than a prejudiced and subjective view that I SHOULDN'T be cornering with my knee down......and no basis on law or objective rationale. He didn't like it - but couldn't argue. I plainly told him he should be prepared to stand up in court and tell the court why it was dangerous - because if he wrote the ticket - that was the next time we'd meet.

I've been sprung a few times,most of the times the have looked away(thank you sir...),had the finger shaken at me too (up the middle of papatoetoe on a 750 Sabre....) and of course been chased a couple of times but haven't had the pleasure of being fined for it yet

me too. using the exhaust noise idea to get someone in court is a bit of a loaded gun for any piggy. I understand (not surprising given the holes in the LTSA legislation that came out last year) that any contested case about exhaust noise is being thrown out by the judges (provided you have a half ways decent lawyer who knows how to quote chapter and verse). All he needs to do is ask the orificer when he last had his ears calibrated so as to verify that the exhaust is Indeed to loud (being the basis that he ticketed you)... to which said plod has no answer and gets told to stop watsign everybodies time.

Stupid and poorly researched laws should get thrown out of court regardless. Thankfully the judges appear to have more brains than the LTSA/police HQ

The penalty, instant 28 day, suspended liscence. $400 minimum fine, and posibly a further 6 month walking, minimum 3 month!
