    international bike buyers

hey guys this may be a bit a bit of interest to any one?
about a month ago i advertised my bike on the t&e to my suprise i got a buyer from the uk asking how much pushing my luck i asked for 6800 instead of the asking price of 5500 sounds like a scam huh?
so it was to my suprise that i recieved a bank cheque to the full amount in aus dollars ( yes it seems the rest of the world thinks we're australia but it meant an extra 1000+ for there ignorance lol) all transport has been paid by the company - so i am now waiting for the cheque to clear (with strict instructions to the company that the bike won't be released until its cleared)
keen to hear any ones thoughts? ill post once the cheque clears :slap:

    Arrow Well.

I'd send the bike once the money is cleared, leaving it in the garage until that happens...

It sounds an awful lot like a scam.

The money will clear into your account, you will send your bike off and then the bank will discover that the cheque was a fraud and demand their monies back.

You will then have no bike.

Find out from the bank how long it takes to verify the cheque and just tell the buyer that the bike will be sent once the cheque is verified authentic. Tell them it may add about a week and see what their response is....

    we will remember them

contact the aussie bank. which one is it? do it via their web site, or as you've apparantley made some extra $$, just call them. i feel this is going to get messy. why not wire the money? international money transfer?

this happens all the time in the states! talk to the bank make sure the cheque is good, talk to the bank were the cheque was made out.
Id say this is 99% a scam! sure you will get your money but in a month the bank will decover the cheque is fake!

Sounds similar to what I had. See thread. When scammer was challenged nothing heard from since.
