I would have called it going for a ride on a bike.
But in a car, if you are going somewhere directly or have an idea where your going, i would assume that would be called a drive. however
if you don't know where your going in a car/just been picked up and don't know where your off to, it could possibly be called riding in a car.

In Long Way Round Ewan McGregor says ride, Charlie Booring says drive... and they are best mates!

If either Booring/Boorman or McGregor becomes an authority on motorcycles, I'll drink a litre of 2 stroke pre-mix and throw a match down my throat.

It's live to ride, not live to drive.
Driving anywhere today just feels like a lifetime.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.
