    zx9r

    Looking at getting a 03 ZX9R C. 24000k, Akrapovic exhaust, double bubble, hugger etc....$9400
Have ridden it - slower than a gixxer 1000 (of course), but seems like a really nice bike. Anyone out there know much about them Anything to look out for, etc.?

Is this the same one you had the other week Jon? Good if you can have a bike for the Australian Superbike, W.A round on the W/E 26-28 May. I'll be in touch.

Ever notice that anyone slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?

These are well sorted bikes. There are no known problems with them.
The Akrapovic exhaust is the best pipe that could possibly be on that model.
If you like "sleepers" then fit a muzzy 998 big bore kit. I have a 2000 motor in a 98 chassis and I did that, the difference was incredible, a standard GSXR1000 rider will wonder how the heck you did a disappearing act on them lol
They respond really, really well to other motor mods too, just pm me if you want details.

They are fantastic road bikes, and even in standard form there would be very little between it and the latest hyper bikes in real road terms. The ZX9R is just a whole lot more comfortable and versatile. Enjoy!

    The C model was 1998 - 99 E = 2000 - 01 F = 2002 - 03.
Go into the motorcyclenews site in the bike reviews section & it will give you info. Once you have got into the ZX9R section there is a"models & specifications" section & that will give the differences.
Failing that Winja seems to be right up on the 9Rs.

yeah had one at the same time as my gsxr1000 k2 it stuck with my gixxer dead even up to 200kmh , the 9 had full akro and 158 mains only, the gix had a kerker muffler but otherwise standard , still good for a 98, 900cc bike thou , just dont forget to snatch test the gearbox b4 buying

I heard the early C1s had some sort of gearbox SNAFU, but I think the affected ones have pretty much all crapped out and been fixxed by now.

I've got a B2, and from what I hear the Cs are faster and lighter. If that's the case they'll be a good ride I'd say.

And as trev mentioned, Winja seems to reckon the C is pretty good, so I'd gather they must haul OK...
