    Bike Names

I was wondering today if bike names actually mean anything or not...

Does anyone know what these break down to if anything?

    GSX-R
    ZXR
    FXR
    GN

    And so forth...
I'm not a complete idiot... some pieces are missing

Can only tell you about the Suzuki naming conventions.
GS = four stroke with two valves per head
GSX = four stroke with four valves per head
GSXR therefore is a four stroke with a four valve head (racing).

Then of course there's GSXF, GSF, and now GSR. And that's just the inline engines. There's also SV and TL for the V twins, and apparently some other designation for cruisrey type things.

Bugger, I think I need a cup ot tea and a lie down.

Apparently there is some logic in there somewhere.

My first bike was called a Bantam - I was always looking for a deeper meaning.
