The Ride of your Life Area in NZ ??

I have to ask after finally returning to the summit of the Rimatukus last weekend after many years. I left the guys on the run at the top partly because I was overwhelm with 25year old memories of a past group I rode with but also because this gorge is an good ride and you need your wits about you at all time. It snows suddenly and winds have blown all sizes of MV's off huge drops. The corners are very extreme in places. Which area based on NPC zones has the balliest ride within 20kms? I mean I have done also everything on the North Island and even ridden to the North Cape a few times in extreme gravel, got frozen solid on the Desert road in a Blizzard at night and barely survived with a friend one night in 1981 on a Bonniville 650 and original GS750 but now modern bikes allow us to tear the edge of the envelopes so much closer. What do riders believe is the Meanest Badest trip you can take in the NORTH ISLAND please. PS - Used to love the Whangarei rides aroung to Patua Bay ex Mt Parahaki but now want to hear whom reckons they have the best ride at legal speeds next to them. May the argument start..

I second that! 4 awesome saddles to go over & the 15km corner signs mean there IS a 15km corner.
The hobbits hole (I think thats what its called) tunnel is pretty cool too!
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

I was at Russell for New Years 1981 and it was bloody wet! Tried to sleep under one of the boats on the beach and got told to F off by some asshole with two dogs. Slept most of the night on the beach and got soaked. Ended up walking and sleeping in the forecourt of some garage several miles back towards Whangarei! Bad night. We came up night before and SINGLE local cop was being a real asshole. My mate from Wellington got locked up for peeing on a tree! We had looked at at crash site and he ended up falling down into a blackberry gorge !! Dud.. no bikes at that time but great place to be until they destroyed the New Years rules......

I'm sold on that stretch of road also after bringing the DRZ home from Taupo
