    Cycling home from school (Long)

    Hey team!

I just though I would share a story sorry it is a bit long but anyways:

Everyday I cycle to and from school the same way, and on part of it is a walkway. Now I have been walking up here every morning and cycling down it every afternoon since I started going to college, until recently I have been given a bit of abuse from a lady who lives beside this walkway.

She belives that I am ripping the grass by riding down it which is not true as I'm only braking and in the wet my brakes ain't that fantastic and lock up, and it is also been made by a rain carving a hole in it. everyday after school she comes outside and waits for me and bitches and moans at me not to ride down it, but as it is council land I figured I am allowed to as she dosen't "maintain" it, but she claims she does which is total bullshit!

now why don't I ride down on the concrete footpath you ask:

    a) it is for people on foot (obviously)
    b) it has got a few single steps/ Stairs and a set of 3 which I don't ride down as it buckles and bends my rims.

now, today the saga continued as her and her friend/neighbour/husband (im not sure) took my photo and reckons she's going to send to the principal of our school, big deal!

I think that everything I'm doing is in the right here as im not in the way of pedestrians or causing damage, but obviously according to the B%^*$! I am.

Thanks for reading and have a good evening.

    No worries...

It'll blow over as these things do. Let the principal deal with it and if he asks you to explain - do so... just like you did here.

The old dear might have nothing better to do, so some community involvement (i.e. putting her nose over every fence available) might be her thing.

As I said - no worries... it really isn't life and death stuff is it?

It's a shame - you should give her a lkist of possible targets and their various misdemenours (by category) in case she's interested.

Make it sound like you're taking her seriously

Let her enjoy her grumbling. Fills in the day!

If this is her biggest problem, then life is good for her!

You could always do "super friendly". A big wave, smile, and "hi" to her every day. That should really wind her up!

I'd be more concerned if she went to the council. "Damaging council property" or something similar?.......

Turn the problem back on her. You don't ride down the path way because of the risk to pedestrians, and the steps.

Tell her you appreciate what a good job she is doing maintaining the grass, and how community minded that is.

Then point out that you need to get to school, because you realise how important a good education is nowdays. You're sure she wouldn't agree with kids playing truant , right ? But you can't ride down the pathway (because of the risk to mothers and little children) , and because the steps make it too dangerous). And ask her to use her influence and organising ability to get the council to put in a cycle path for cyclists. because if they did, probably some car drivers would start using it instead of driving their cars, which would help the environment. Just loom at all those buttons getting pushed!

If she says get lost, then you can point out that it is HER fault if you have to ride on the grass. If she says OK , then it will keep her busy and she won't bug you.

Just ride past her as fast as you can, I mean, dangerously fast, and let her know it's because you have to get the hell away from her as soon as possible. Hopefully she'll learn the more she tries the faster you'll go, risking life, limb and grass, and she'll back off to let you ride nice anc calmly and preserve it.

And tell her to have sex with a mango.

shes not actually aloud to randomly take pictures of you without your permission dude. also if its the councils land then its none of her buisness, as they take responsibility in maintaining the land not others (unless employed to do so) it sounds like she is harassing you, which she also isnt aloud to do, and, she also cant blame any damage on you because its a public walkway, and she cant send any photos to your school (teamed with blaming you for damage), as that would be slander.
best you can do is totally ignore her, dont talk to her. losing battle for her really.

yea. i did study law for a while..
