So don't. Appeal to his sense of manhood call him out.
In a very public way (in front of the class not the whole school) challenge him to either accept your apology or prove the falibility of your chosen mode of transport given the current fuel prices.

If we are right and his predjudice is based in a lack of knowledge he will need to accept he was wrong and your apology.

If we are wrong he will get to vent in the form of a civilised debate (get your english or drama teacher in on it).

If he is a bully who is capable of getting others to put the smackdown on you he will look like a f#$&wit and a sore loser if he tries anything else, especially if he loses the debate.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

If you are better at essays than debate challenge him to a essay on the same topic "Are bikes a valid choice for transport" with the class voting on the victor.

Nothing is more fun than a moral victory where a bully is torn limb from limb by his own peers.

I'm old but not that old. Just because it is not normal does not mean it will not work. He does not have to stoop to further violence and he could be really proud of himself if he is able to resolve this through diplomacy, tact and intelligence.

Have to agree with duckman here. I know the exact same type you are talking about. I used to have things get done to my scooter at school. I never did anything about it but I knew who it was. Just take it on the chin and avoid him. Don't stoop to his level and eventually he will get bored and find someone else to pick on. Although violence isn't normally the best way to resolve things, sometimes it does work.

Yea right. Can't help but think that some of the attitude you generate might be caused by the attitude you have.

Hey good idea Big Dog - to make it even more interesting they should each have the opposition argument. That guy thats so opposed needs to do research and try and prove why "bikes ARE a valid choice for transport" and Indy has to prove why they aren't ....

Its a great way of stamping out any prejudice when you have to put yourself
in someone elses argument and disprove your own opinions to win it!

Nice thoughts, but in terms of their peers, a big huddle and the words FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT being chanted comes to mind.

Just let it rest. If anything happens to your bike i am sure a few guys showing up on bikes and asking this guy why he would want to damage something that is obviously special to you would sort things out. But i find that ignoring the dickheads in society is the best way to piss them off. They expect a reaction where if you just put a smile on your face and answer "if you say so" then he will try find someone else to piss off.

Or we could all go down to his next sports event and be seen without intimidating anyone. Like he would get f&%$ed with after seeing a turnout of real bikers, that he later rode of with.

an excellent way to show this young man some support. No threats of violence. No words spoken at all.Just silent dissent.Would probably cause the bike hater to appologise voluntarily. Then, with civility restored, the debate would have some merit.
