hahahah to true but to be honest when first riding I was only doing about 6000 km in 6 months now I do about double that....

    Ride heaps...

As to the gsxr400... heard that they wern't the greatest of road bikes... You 250 still has heaps to go man It's not all about straight out power. The zxr250 should still have it over that 400 in the twisties.

Anywayz guys going back to my initial concern about 400's whether to get one or not which I raised originally on this thread.

My main problem is I've spent 6g's on my ZXR 250 and then some more money to get it to it's best (well I hope) and have done the carbs and valves which was done really accurately (valves). New O ring chain, full service, clutch, new brake pads and new set of tyres. Pirelli. This is obviously set me some more smack-a-roo's and I've been outa pocket to get any insurance on it now therefore riding around like a clown without any insurance.

So therefore I am a bit concerned and careful when I ride, though I take it out often and smack it down to 180k's I am just not pushing the bike to it's very limit as I can or should be as highlighted by you guys before because I am extremely paranoid about crashing it, if I do I will be really gutted and shattered!

What I had in mind was obviously selling my ZXR 250 off and getting money back. Then I could go out and get meself a nice 400 for about 3g's half the price and I could then go hard, and even if I do completely fuck up the whole bike up, for argument sake, I wont be as pissed off as I would say if I crashed ZXR250c.

And for less money I would be riding around with something better than ZXR 250 well arguable? lol .. Well it will definitely have more top end power better acceleration and faster with a passenger. And no Two Smoker dont go there forget and ignore the licence bit, I'll deal with that

So what are you thoughts and opinions on my plan aye any good, pros cons .. sucks .. great idea .. feasible logical .. idiotic.

Opinions please with good reasons of course oh and at the same time if youz wana check these out and gimme some feedback aye:

How much should I be paying for it say if I were to buy it..common probs and good things about the bikes ect.

Yo Two Smoker the chicken strips of yours, is dat of a road bike or race bike man ? you suck ! grr lol .. nah jokes .. thanx for your help so far

    Cheers

If you do call about the RVF, ask if the valve shims have been done. They should have been done at about 24,000ks.

Hmmm Well I've never ridden the gixxer400... but the vfr/rvf although smaller in size is gutless compared to a zxr400. They have more torque sure but (maybe it was just the one I rode) it revs a lot slower and doesn't "get up and go" compared to the zxr.

In saying that my zxr handeled like shit. I could have spent the $1500 on better tyres, front and rear rebuild bearings etc etc etc to get it going mint but instead I just bit the bullet and bought a cbr600. even though it wasn't as sporty a position the CBR had more power, better brakes and was generally easier to ride (not to mention wheelie).

Oh and my 250 didn't have chicken strips either on front or back. but that also comes down to suspension. I buy ex race tyres that have been to the edge. I manage to get to the edge of the rear... but when I get to about 3-5 mm from the edge on the front the tyre starts to slip.... So don't go throwing a bike right over straight away get a feel for where it's limit is first.

You should be able to see counter-steering in action from 30kph and upwards, but to be sure, it will definitely be affecting the bike and handling from 40kph.

Everyone counter-steer's? If you don't counter steer on a motorcycle it doesn't go round the bendy bits.

Cheers for the help and info so far guys, just a quick story almost fucken had it on Friday nite when I was going to my Mrs place on New North Road.

This fucken cunt pulled a U turn right in front of me and yes it is a very busy road with 2 lanes on each side. There's a set of traffic lights where you turn left and go down to Mount Eden Motorcycles. Just after that light, went down first gear and then second was at about 50k’s, just after this dood on the left hand side pulled right in front of me to do a U turn. He was parked on the side before.

Slammed on my brakes hard and the back tyre skidded from one side to the other for about 10 meters and there were cars behind me. I thought I would slam him but just missed him by inches. Wot fucked me off me was he was doing a runna aye. Didn’t bother stopping to see if I am alive or not or to say sorry but ran the red light.

Got on my bike followed him banged on the window he still wouldn’t stop. Kept following him and I hit his window really hard! He still wouldn’t stop so had to speed up cut his way and then he stopped and got outa his car and I stepped out. Was gonna knock the fucker down aye but didn’t, was serious road rampage! Called the cops they came over statements blah blah blah and gave him a $150 ticket only! Grrr ... Not being racist or anything but he was a blady China man! And I've had encounters with them before. Made me to my stomach!!!

    No-one's mentioned the FZR400 yet...
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-57069071.htm
They really go for a 400, and I found the one my dad had to be quite easy to ride hard. Make sure you get one that still has the EXUP valve in the exhaust though, some people seem to think that Yamaha just put it there for fun or something - I've ridden one with it in and out, and it's got way more torque with it working properly.
