yep - it was produced by Visionary TV - richard driver (ex radio with pictures). i think the FTA TV stations were not interested, but it was a good show. I think both Suzuki NZ and BMW NZ were sponsors.

    Bike Show

Talking of Bike shows, a mate of mine and me have formulated a format for a new bike show. It is currently with production company for serious rework and consideration.

qustion is how much support do you think we would get from manufacturers to produce a series?

And we will take any suggestions for format or guest appearances.

Adventure riding, trials, quads, scooters, tourers, sports... there is just so much programme content available. Not to mention bike reviews - "GN250, They're everywhere".
Good point - defining the target audience would be the key. If it is bike enthusiasts that your after, then that means having the harleys in with the gixxers, in with the GN250's, in with the adventure bikes.

Sounds good to me, but would die-hard sports bike nuts or cruiser-only types be into it? Who cares - make it and I'll watch

Yeah, I was thinking about that...

You remember "The Holidaymakers" band "sweet lovers" song? She was the lead singer, first cousin to King Kapisi (his sister is the fillum maker), first cousin to my missus... who doesn't sing in public.

None. Contact Ssangyong. They do most of the motorcycle sport name sponsorship in NZ.

Blue Wing Honda will laugh at you. And say mean things, so make sure you have your incontinence trousers on.

    How about:

    1. Road condition report - roadworks, fallen trees, wire rope strung across the road, etc, etc.

    2. Economy comparisons between old and new bikes of similar roles and cubic capacity.

    3. Legal issues - LTNZ, Police, and Legal experts in a panel discussing issues that affect motorcyclists - lanesplitting, filtering, parking, vandalism, theft, criminal negligence of other road users, ACC fees, graduated licensing limitatiosn (70 km/hr speed limit, CC, training, time lengths for each license step).

    4. Investigate unsolved accidents like Stonechucker's.

    5. Tour reports.

    6. Bike reports (obvious that one)

    7. A home mechanics segment.

    8. Local race reports

    9. International race reports

    10. Finance advice for buying your first bike, trade in advice from Bike Shop Owners.

    11. In depth analysis of different motorcycle shops servicing practices and methodoogies.

    12. History reports, like a documentary on the Cust races.

    blah, blah, blah.

Well KB TV maybe? I'd watch. Depends on how it was done I guess. The moral majority probably wouldn't watch a show about antisocial leather (and sometimes cordura) clad hoons like us anyway would they?

I often tell the 4 wheel tossers in my office my OLD 250 could make mince of their bump and thump toss pot machines and I prove it regularly.

I think they may be starting to catch on..........

Agree winja should be on the show, just to scare off the PC a$$holes.

I reckon it could be really awesome. If you go down the route of the "kids kings/knights" show that is done for NZ soccer.

Each time they have a player profile, practicing skills, event highlights and talk about boots/gear etc.

So for us we could a have a random biker each week, which would give a good cross section of NZ motorcyclists, have a skill to try each week (counter-steering, weaving, emergency breaking etc.), keep tabs on the club racing series, nationals, sprints, hill climbs, a bit of MX (not too much, they get heaps anyway), bike and gear reviews... the list goes on.

I know of a lot of people, especially from the boy-racer/wank wank/rich asian student/whatever you want to call it side of the fence that are actually really interested in bikes. It's amazing the amount of questions you get asked when you show up to a party on a bike.

Personally i'm all for it, im shit with a camera, but im not bad at editing/sound matching (hey i got Excellence in Level 3 for it!) so if it does go ahead i'd more than love to be a part of it, even if i do have to work with WT.
