    I'm a motorbike.

The other day aff-man and I went for a quick blat into Manukau. We popped into Arthur's Emporium (in all our gear) for me to grab something. Inside were these two kids, about 3 and 4 years old, with their mum. As we were standing at the counter, the little girl says to her mum (quite loudly):

    "They're motorbikes!"

It was so cute. And rather amusing, as the mum patiently explained that we RODE motorbikes.

As we were leaving on the bike I waved goodbye to the boy and he looked so excited, as if it was the best thing in his day that a person on a bike was waving at him.

I've only ever had good reactions from parents and their kids when I've been wearing my gears.* Just interested in whether anyone else has had similar experiences. Or perhaps completely different ones?

    * Apart from when I was at Mission Bay one Sunday afternoon with Aff, and I could practically hear all the mothers thinking, "Well! I hope MY daughter doesn't turn out like THAT!"

It seems alot of kids love bikes. I was riding behind this car with a 3-4yr old boy sitting in the back giving me the thumbs up while he held up his little motorbike toy just about the whole way home from work today...
I quite often pass a group of younger school kids on the way home and they love it when I blast the airhorns. I wonder if they have the same enthusiasm for bikes when they're older?...

Little kids get excited as over motorbikes. Remember it was either my mum or dad who were approached by a little old lady, she was so excited over the fact that they had a bike. Even commented over wishing that back in her day she'd learnt to ride.

I just think it's interesting that sometime between being a kid and being an adult, half the population seems to change their view from "How cool are bikes?!" to "Bikers are all leather clad, tattoo-bearing gang members."

Yeh I like waving... but my looks / size tend to make most people leave me alone to start with.

I'm just a child in a fat mans body

In my case it was "Well! I hope MY daughter doesn't go out with THAT!"
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Haha, that's the best thing. Kids couldn't care less if you've got a 2006 Duc or a 1972 not-sure-what-it-is. They just think you're cool no matter what.

I think I just enjoy it because it means that at least SOMEONE thinks I'm cool.

I love how minor technicalities like that just don't matter a bean. Am I alone, or do others also want to regress into their childhood every now and then?

stopped to let a boy and his mum [i think?] cross while in feilding. boy actually tried to stop in the middle of the road cos he couldnt take his eyes off me, lmfao.
im only interested in responding to the younger ones....anything that looks old enough to be a smart ass gets ignored.

them kids is the reason why i ride with the local ulysses for thier toy runs and also why i also ride with the triumph group for their fundraisers.
