    Finally caught speeding

well, knew it was gonna happen, was suprised how long it took though.
i got caught speeding down moorhouse ave and weaving in & out of traffic.
i was going to my mates place, towards blenheim road, lane split through the cars got to the front of the lights, took off, speed up, came up to corner and slowed doen to take it, no cop car behind me, went around the corner and by this time dropped down to 6o km/h coming out of the corner, kept at that speed, couple second later flashing lights, pulled over and policeman got out.

now can someone enlighten me on this bit i am about to say. they said, they are fining me for a speeding infrigement, which happend back around the corner even though when they came up behind and turned on their lights and pulled me over , i was only doing 6o km/h after the corner, which i said fair enough cause i was speeding, so its my own fault. but, they wouldn't give me a ticket or tell me how much they were fining me for, only that at one stage i got up to 81 km/h.

do they have to tell me what speed they are fining me for? and can they fine me even though they didnt have their lights on or were behind me too quite a bit after the bend?.
i know i was speeding and quite ready to pay the price for doing it, just a little curios, is their any policeman of fellow biker family members that might be able to answer this for me?

I'm sure they have to specify the speed, because the infringement fines are in bands, otherwise how will you know how much money to pay?

its not a whatever the more serious one that isnt an instant fine is called is it?

oh yeah, and you're nuts if you were speeding down moorhouse ave today. Its been pissing rain in showers and the road is wet all day..... not the good look for grip etc.

How did he check your speed, pursuit, radar or laser.
Or was it a guesstimate based on his eyedar?

The speed should be on the ticket. As someone said, you need to see which bracket you are in for demerits. Mine put me into the 35 bracket by 1k ph

The police can do whatever they like whenever they like. Anytime, Anywhere! They can even get away with rape. Just be glad all you got was a fine and not a butt hole reaming

I'm guessing same lane radar, unless he has 150 years of speed enforcement and his eyedar can accurately differentiate between 81 and 80.

And yes they can issue a ticket for that, you might get lucky and they won't do you for both 81kmh + unsafe lane changing, you might get even luckier and they might even reduce the speed or 'forget' to post the ticket out.

But stuff like that never happens...

Mate - if you have to pay anything you have to know what you're paying for... and it sounds like you need some proof they actually know what the speed was...

I'm with Lou on this one...if it was eyedar I'd be asking for the certificate of calibration...

Shouldn't the police officer have given you the ticket right then and there on the spot?

I've noticed a number of posts recently mentioning that the ticket is coming in the mail later. Is this their new practice?

Yes so have I. Why would they post out the notice instead of issuieing it on the roadside? Anyone have the definitive answer on this?

Fark man I live out of town and know how much the cops hound the Butter Factory corner plus its a 35kmh indicated corner.

The Moorehouse Ave/Lincoln Rd intersection is their main path in and out of town to the southern suburbs.

If he told you a speed that they clocked you at then thats what you'll get done for.

Because (like happens to me at times) he never had his ticket book with him or had run out of tickets????
