Who's been caught doing a wheelie and what penalty $$$$(or Whisky's I have Known)

I've had a few too many close calls. Just seems everytime I lift the front wheel a HP comes into view seconds later?? Twice I've been sure I was caught in the act but luck has been on my side. Wont last!
So, I'm interested to hear what penalties riders have received for wheelies on public roads. I know one Guy who got a $600 fine BUT NO DEMERITS!. Ticketed for "riding in a manner likely to annoy the public". But a friendly rider HP told me "depending on the Cop he can give you careless driving or worse dangerous driving"(OK, riding) Then you're in serious crap.
So all you scumbag low life bike riding holligans fess up...

Crossing Taranaki St one night from manners st to Courtenay Pl. Front wheel 10inches off the ground for half a second. i mean, Fizzerman could have done better! I wasn't even trying!

Arrested, handcuffed the works. proccessed then charged with dangerous driving.. They chased me for 6 YEARS before a judge threw it out.

Bike like yours, if you get spotted, run. You're walking anyway, might as well make it interesting.

That seems a bit over the top, especially for a small error on your part by letting the clutch out a little fast

Maybe he didn't like the look of you, you dodgy bugger !

Once upon a time, a mate pulled a wheelie past a cop (by accident), but cos he was already gone, the cop took his frustration out on me - I pulled out of a gas station and was removing a bit of oil/petrol/diesel from the tyres by a little weave. He thought I was doing it to warm up the tyres. Wanker

Off the topic, but once a cop in front of me (in my car) suddenly did a u-turn right in front, I was obeying the 2 second rule of course, but he didn't indicate, just went left a little, then a big u turn across both lanes and roared back the other way with lights flashing. Me thinks adrenalin got the better of him and he forgot there were others on the road. Gave me and my partner a bit of a fright.

I did that at 70 on a 50 zone. Cop thought I was doing it to avoid the laser gun. Apparently I was doing a good job of that. Unfortunately he got a lock on me after all and pulled me over. I got some shit from him after that.

I don't do wheel stands on the street - off road's a different story,it's part of the game and if you can't loft the wheel at will in trials you won't be doing it for long.If the front wheel comes up as part of my normal riding,so be it.

One of the first bikes I rode on the street that could loft the front anytime was the first XR500 - twin shock,23in front wheel.Coming up a hill I pulled my first power wheelie, and could hold it there on throttle - but with a corner coming up I thought I better drop it...at that instant a cop came around the corner and saw the wheel hit the deck - he didn't look happy, but there was nothing he could do.

Even earlier on my Rickman Metise I was catching up to friends when I came around the outside of a left turning car at an intersection - I was sideways big time on the gravel and when I hit clean seal pulled a nice big power stand...then locked eyes on the bike cop watching.I pulled in next to him cause it looked like he wanted to talk to me - when he saw the bike he went ga ga...Wow!!! a Rickman Metise!!! I've never seen anyone ride one of these on the street,oh man, this is my dream bike.He looked at it for awhile (I was kinda worried he might look at my engine numbers) then he told me I had better go and see my mates who were waiting around the corner...and,oh,don't do that in front of a cop again eh.

I have one friend who pulled a wheelie on upper Queen Street in Auckland a couple of years ago.

    His penalty?

He was killed by a car driver who freaked.

I've been pulled over twice. After my customary "I'm so stupid, I don't know why I did it" deeply remorseful oscar winning performance, the first cop let me off with a 63kph speeding ticket and the second time I just got a warning.

this law/charge should be renamed the I have annoyed a cop and he cant charge me with anything else law. Got done for it cause I came around a corner to fast dropping some mates home, and there was a whole heap of fuzz breaking up a party slowed down to a safe pace(wasn't speeding in the first place) but due to my age/car etc he gave me a half hour long bollocking then demanded I go straight home, give him my phone number and that he would call in half an hour. It was 0220 or some thing I had to speed to get home in time, told Mum, who answered the phone and absolutley bollocked him, then went and saw his boss on monday and bollocked him.

still had to pay the 600 though.....should have taken it to court in hindshight
